I’m a sucker for Google Maps mashups and I’m a sucker for cheap booze. Imagine—no, really, just close your eyes and really soak me in—that I had found a website that mashed up both: Unthirsty.com.

A combination of user-submitted data and pre-supplied content from the administrators tracks all the happy hours in a given area, as long as that area is in Seattle, Portland, or New York City.

Update: Howdy, Digg folks. Looks like you’ve already taken down Unthirsty.com, which is a shame—it’s a good site. You should really bookmark it and check it out after the storm dies down.

In the meantime, here’s a few recent stories from Dethroner that I hope will give you an idea of what we’re doing over here.

It’s not just seattle, portland and ny. I found locations in San Francisco. I think it’s just if someone has submitted an entry, not actual ‘covered zones’.

http://www.stumblingdonkey.com is a very similar site for Washington DC and San Fransisco. There should be more of these. I should never be more than a WiFi connection away from a place to drink cheap beer. And neither should anyone else.

http://www.drvino.com/chicagobyob.php shows you where BYOB retaurants in the area are and http://www.drvino.com/chicagowineshops.php shows you where the nearest liquor store is, only works for chicago at the moment.

There’s another great website for Seattle that’s not only limited to happy hours, but all kinds of deals and events (happy hours, lunch deals, poker games, etc.) , works on mobile devices (sms, blackberry, etc.). Heck, they even do friends and dating :)

It’s not happy hour related, but it is definitely BEER and brewing related.

Second for http://www.stumblingdonkey.com. The thing I like about that site is they go out of their way to be completely accurate.

There is a very promising website for bars in the Minnesota area called http://www.cheaperdrinker.com that lists bar specials on the side of a google map. The list actually refreshes when the user moves the map and zooms in or out. I think they are expanding quickly.
