1 Comment Published by Joel October 1st, 2007 in Gadgets. Share ThisOur friends at Gotham City Art are selling another big batch of comics and toy-related items on eBay, including 41 of the original dossier scripts for G.I. Joe action figures. These are the original type-written scripts by Larry Hama that showed up on the back of the action figure packages. Considering most of them are […]
RoFo Beer Dispensing Headgear
0 Comments Published by travis September 14th, 2007 in Booze, Gadgets. Share ThisA Slave to my Passions since 1989, I, “Mad” Randy Flann, have enjoyed developing nearly two hundred “concepts of convenience” which I call RoFo Headgear. Many of these have been featured across the globe in the hippest magazines…
Stay class Mad Randy Flann. Oh and invest some money into a web designer. Your […]
The Gammon Grenade
0 Comments Published by Joel September 10th, 2007 in Fighting, Gadgets. Share ThisBecause the “Sticky/Stickly Bomb” had a tendency to occasionally stick to its thrower instead a target, Capt. R.S. Gammon, a British paratrooper, invented an updated model towards the end of World War II that bore his name:
The basic design was to use a fuze, already available in the 69 Grenade, which was then inserted into […]
Stamps Disco Turntable Watch
1 Comment Published by Joel September 7th, 2007 in Clothes, Gadgets. Share ThisUnless you’re an actual DJ, there’s probably no way you can pull off this Stamps Disco watch. Turntables are only cool if you use them.
But if you’re not a poseur hipster or a talentless hip-hop hack, by all means, get thee to an Urban Outfitters—they probably didn’t rip this design off from anyone—and get to […]
Steampunk Lightsaber is the Cat’s Pajamas
1 Comment Published by travis August 23rd, 2007 in Art, DIY, Decor, Gadgets, Movies. Share ThisIf, by some act of reverse metempsychosis, we took all that was worthy in George Lucas’ imagination and injected it into Jules Verne, this might have resulted a century earlier: the steampunk lightsaber, hand-crafted here by a friend of “CaptainChewbacca” at the Stardestroyer.net forums.
I’ve never really been a gigantic Star Wars fan, but I must […]
Izik Levy’s Robot Pendants
6 Comments Published by Joel August 16th, 2007 in Art, Gadgets. Share ThisThese blown-glass pendants are adorable and alive with color, but since they are robots and not flowers, they are suitable for all genders and creeds.
Unfortunately, I don’t believe they’re actually for sale, or if they are, it’s at the strange “traveling salon” that is Modern Objects of Beauty.

This is How They Win: Cutest Robot Ever

I’ve always been a fan of small, sturdy single purpose gadgets [insert penis joke here]. Peter Atwood forges some of the most aesthetically pleasing, rugged pocket and key ring tools I’ve ever seen. [www.atwoodknives.com]
Professor Lady Nerd Astronaut, Love Me
6 Comments Published by Joel July 17th, 2007 in Gadgets, Women. Share ThisFor months we’ve been trying to figure out how to add cheesecake to Dethroner without taking the low and easy road (not that there’s a god damn thing wrong with giving some eye-service to some women solely on the merit of their curves. [Could we call that “Bezier Mucho?”]) The strongest idea we’ve had so […]
Forbidden LEGO: New Project Book from No Starch
1 Comment Published by Joel July 16th, 2007 in DIY, Gadgets. Share ThisNo Startch Press is getting ready to release another LEGO book, this time full of models and contraptions that might be a little on the fun dangerous side. Called “Forbidden LEGO,” it’s most intriguing because of its authors: Ulrik Pilegaard and Mike Dooley, both of whom worked at LEGO on the Mindstorms project. (Original, not […]
Holy Moly: Ridiculous R/C Helicopter Skills
20 Comments Published by Joel July 9th, 2007 in Gadgets. Share This
Apparently pilot Alan Szabo is something of a name in the R/C helicopter world. All I know is that he makes this overpowered chopper do things that no full-sized chopper could ever think about doing, with manic flips and near-ground reversals.
I couldn’t help but watch this video and wonder when military drones will be […]
