Announcing This Week’s Theme: Buying Electronics

First, my apologies: This week’s theme is getting a very late start.

Second, A bit of personal backstory on yours truly: I write about consumer electronics for a living. For instance, I have a monthly Q&A column in Popular Mechanics, way in the back next to the ads for making hovercraft out of vacuum cleaners.

As much as I like writing for the mag, one thing that is a pain is that the lag time from question to answer can be months. (I usually try to send the person asking the question an email with an answer before the mag comes out.) This week we’re going to try something potentially disastrous: I’m going to answer all your questions about buying consumer electronics, as well as show you how to avoid being ripped off this year when buying new gear.

This is your opportunity to ask the questions about computers, MP3 players, cameras, HDTVs, stereos, and other consumer electronics that you’ve always wanted to ask but haven’t yet been answered by the copious information online. Send me a link to a specific product and I’ll be happy to chime in with my opinion.
