AXE’s Target Demographic: People Who Had a Thing for George Costanza’s Mom

Posted in: Grooming

On one hand, I’m flattered that the PR firms are starting to take notice of Dethroner. On the other, I’m unsure that AXE knows who to whom they’re marketing. I don’t even know what AXE smells like, so turned off have I been by their awkward advertisments.

This pitch today doesn’t make me any more sure even they know what they’re doing:

I thought you (and Dethroner readers) would get a kick out of this — definitely take a listen!

AXE, in their ongoing quest to help the guy get the girl developed the Hometown Hump Day Hotline 888-AXE-ADVICE, just in time for the biggest party night of the year, Thanksgiving Eve. I think you’ll recognize the voice of experience on the phone…none other George Costanza’s mom from Seinfeld, Estelle Harris!

Call 888-AXE-ADVICE to hear how Estelle suggests a guy handle going after two hens at the same time, or if a guy needs a place for him and his love bird to roost but doesn’t want to wake Uncle Leo. We just completed a survey as well that shows almost 70 percent of the 18-24 year old single guys and girls are planning on or hoping to get some action when they go out that night. (Got more some fun hook-up related stats if you’re interested as well).

Of course, I just made Dethroner part of the AXE marketing machine, so maybe they’re on to something after all. Oh, Geoyorge!
