Drink of the Day: Yorsh

Posted in: Beer, Booze

During an—ahem—spirited discussion on the Dethroner Forum about the death of the classic cocktail, it was discovered that there is a name for putting a shot of vodka in a glass of beer: “yorsh.”

According to Wikipedia, yorsh is of Russian origin, typically drunk after a toast in one quick, throat-burning chug. As Dethroner Forum member Jeremy was told by a Siberian woman, it’s the perfect breakfast drink on the harsh steppes when it’s “too early for straight vodka.”
