Boston “Sam Adams” Beer Hooks Up Craft Brewers with Hops
Posted in: Beer
There’s a hops shortage right now, which has forced many smaller brewers to either cancel planned beers or change recipes. What hops are out there are very expensive.
Boston Beer has announced that they’ll be selling ten tons of hops they’ve imported from Europe to smaller craft breweries at cost to help bolster their production until the shortage works itself out. Brewmaster Jim Koch is a class act.
“The purpose of doing this is to get some hops to the brewers who really need them. So if you don’t really need them, please don’t order them,” Koch wrote. “And don’t order them just because we’re making them available at a price way below market. Order them because you need these hops to make your beer. We’re not asking questions, so let your conscience be your guide.”
