No Regrets: Saftey Pinned Forearm Scar

Posted in: Art

Most of the time we like to post up images of bad, really bad, and super bad ink that only complete dickheads bereft of the clue would wear, but every once in a while we come across something that just works so well that we have to throw it up here instead. This one kind of straddles both categories, with one foot in the past and the other firmly entrenched in the future. I like the story it tells—that at one point the person’s life was so in the shitter that she decided to end it. From the length and depth of the scar, it looks like she wasn’t fucking around, either. This does not seem to have been your typical “call for help,” though there was clearly some kind of intervention; she’s still here. And thank god for that, because as far as I’m concerned, this world needs more survivors who have been able to turn that corner with a serious commitment and a sense of humor. (The duckie saftey pins on the end just kill me.)

I love it when someone uses ink to augment scar tissue instead of trying to cover it up. It’s shameless, it doesn’t try to hide the past, but instead accepts it, works with it, and moves on. With this case in particular, I can’t help but give credit where it’s due.
