DNA Tests for Dogs’ Breed
Posted in: Dogs
Like something out of a fantasy X-Treme Maury Povich Show, you can now run DNA tests on your dog for the surprisingly reasonable price for just $72. Why, might you ask, when the peanut butter appears to sit undisturbed on the shelf? Because you might want to lock down the history of your dog’s breed—as long as he or she is one of the 38 breeds able to be identified.
Swab the inside of your dog’s mouth, send it back via U.S. Mail, and get the full history of your dog’s breeding back in a (presumably) few weeks. Good perhaps for determining if a breeder ripped you off or if you should expect genetic health issues in your dog’s future. But hey, if it’s pure-bred, you don’t need a test to tell you that!
