Bachelor Parties: Let Them Entertainment You…

When it comes to entertaining the masses at a bachelor party, it’s no longer a question of blond or brunette. While doing “research” for my new book, BACHELOR PARTY CONFIDENTIAL, I came across all sorts of pay-to-play options, including fat mamas, little people (male and female), dwarf tossing (male; illegal in many states), an S&M clown, paintballing, kite surfing, bungee jumping, a male Liza Minelli impersonator and the list goes on.

Guys are finding more and more interesting ways to mark the rite, but my favorite is still the good old-fashioned prank: One group of Aussies told a blacked-out groom that he broke his leg when he came to; the groom went through his wedding and 10-day honeymoon to Fiji in an ankle-to-hip cast. Another fave is the best man who hired a young couple off CriagList to show up at a rented ski house mid-bachelor party and to pretend that their car was broken down; they were invited in to stay warm and offered a drink. Within minutes the frisky couple was going at it and proceeded to perform a live sex show for the whole posse.

Of course, creativity need not be limited to the prurient or punk’d. If friends so choose, the bachelor party can be a time to honor the groom-to-be and do something special for him. One outdoorsy party in Woodstock, NY centered around building a deluxe treehouse in the sky for the bachelor. “At one point,” explained Cade, the groom, “one of my friends was like, ‘Cade, I’m sorry we didn’t really get drunk.’ And then he asked, ‘Does anyone have any dirty stories about Cade?’ And we sat around the campfire for about five minutes while people were like, ‘Hmmm. There was that time when you got drunk and hit on my sister.’ And that was as naughty as it got.” Two years later, Cade and his bride still use the treehouse when they need to escape from Manhattan.
