Deadliest Catch Up

Posted in: Jobs, TV

deadlist_douche.jpgAlright, who caught Discovery’s Deadliest Catch season three premiere last night? And who already is hoping that kid who was bitching and moaning about getting to be captain of the Maverick takes a crab pot in the teeth?

Things I noticed watching the show:

• When those five guys abandoned ship the captain they were filming on the radio told his wife to call him back when their kids couldn’t hear her talk to him. Later, when talking about that one captain’s sons on board this year, they noted the older son had only ever been on a two-day run. When you work at such a potentially lethal job, it seems you are inclined to shield your kids from the dangers and stress. (On the other hand, that other captain—yes, I know I should know their names—has his pretty hot daughter on board. I’d let her give me crabs am I right?)

• That guy who brought his wife on board as the “cook” is going to regret it. It doesn’t hurt that she seems about half nutty anyway, but she just doesn’t look like she’s going to handle life at sea very well. If I were on that crew I’d be pissed.

• Are Coast Guard rescue teams badasses or what?

• Are Inuit bar girls hot or what? (At least I’m presuming she was Inuit. Don’t piss on my igloo fantasies!)

• I still can’t get over what a little shit Blake Painter, captain of the Maverick, is. (I looked him up.) That little toolbag sat around trying to talk smack when all the captains went out drinking, but didn’t even bother to write down the coordinates of any good fishing locations? What an ass.

• Did anyone else get the impression that the oldest son on that one boat only came on board because he saw his little brother getting TV time last year? If he was so hot to be a crab fisherman, why’d he let his little brother beat him to it?
