Gun Paint Kits are a dig at NYC Mayor

Seems Mayor Bloomberg declared gun paint kits a menace and helped declare them illegal. While these new kits by Lauer aren’t for sale in NYC — they are named after its 5 boroughs and include a stencil to add the Mayors face to your gun.
Snazzy!
“Making a quick buck by coloring a handgun to look like a toy is craven and beneath any honest businessman,” Bloomberg said. “By coloring these guns, a real one looks like a toy, and a police officer won’t be able to tell the difference.”

I guess everyone is missing the point again. The same thing has been argued with airsoft guns that’s why now they are sold with a bright orange color at the muzzle. The simple solution is to enact a law that will consider the USE and not the actual object itself as a crime. In other words if a guy points a “gun” at a cop or any other person he should be charged with a weapons charge even if it turns out that the “gun” was a toy or BB gun. This will put the responsibility of their actions back to where it belongs, to the person doing the act! Even kids know it is not a good idea to point a “gun” at a cop. Whoever is stupid enough to commit a crime using BB guns or airsoft guns or actually use a real gun painted with a bright color should suffer the consequence.
The Philippines had the same problem before which resulted in the banning of airsoft rifles. There was this irrational fear that the popularity of these airsoft guns would make bank robbers use them in their heists. Again these irrational beings missed a very important point. It would be a lot better if the robbers actually used these airsoft guns instead of real ones! If there are bank robbers who are actually that stupid to bring BB guns inside a bank with armed guards ( every bank in the Philippines has 2-3 armed guards, not to mention buildings, malls, even churches have armed guards unlike in the US) then I guess we have nothing to fear since they are liable to hurt no one but themselves. The police have actually understood this and has not enforced the ban. In fact, a lot of them enjoy playing the airsoft war games with civilians and military personnel
But back to painted guns. Something like that would only be a problem here in the US since people are generally not being held responsible for their actions (what are all these lawyers for, someone else is to blame but not yours truly). If someone points a gun and threatens a cop it SHOULD NOT MATTER WHAT COLOR the gun is or for that matter if the GUN IS REAL OR NOT! The fact that he is a threat is enough for the police to use force! It is the PERCEIVED threat and not the actual threat that the cop has to react to. The actual threat can only be fully established after the fact where we know hindsight is always 20/20.
Let the lawmakers start putting responsibility where it should be and that is on the person himself. Let us make him liable for his actions, pleaseeeeee!!!!
