I fed my family on canned bacon for years. It was cheaper and good tasting, too. The brand I bought at the stupidmarket was from Denmark, as I recall. I haven't seen any for years!

30+ years ago, I use to buy canned bacon at a gourmet shop in McLean VA and I agree that it was the best tasting bacon ever. Wish they still sold it.

As an advertising/brand enthusiast, I love the brand name: Celebrity.

Implies that the bacon is made from a celebrity. It's a product of Hungary, and hungry...hungry Boy Scouts, evidently.

That was absolutely the best bacon I ever tasted! It did have an unusual brownish color. So glad you showed the pictures.

Oh yeah! I remember this from my boy scouting days. We often took canned bacon because it didn't have to be refrigerated. The only place that we could get it was at K-mart -- what does that tell you?

After you opened the can, you'd find the bacon wrapped in paper. The paper was completely saturated in lard and could be a real asset in starting your campfire.

K-mart also had little cans of Danish ham that weren't too bad. And of course, we also made good use of Spam!

Ooh, ooh, does anyone know where I can get some canned bacon---preferably not 20 years old. I have fond memories of having it on camping trips as a kid. Bring back canned bacon!
