Polo Collector’s Trunk

polotrunk.jpgI don’t wear polo shirts that often (upper or lower case), but I love this 40th anniversary Polo Collector’s Trunk from Ralph Lauren, which includes 40 different Polo shirts in a handsome leather case. Only five large!

I have never owned a Polo-brand polo shirt before. Is there anything that sets the brand name ones apart from the discount ones?

I think the difference is the little horsey.

its actually not that bad of a deal. I think Polos tend to go for about 15 bucks, and the trunk would equal it to 12.50

Having worn both kinds (country and western) of polo, upper and lowercase, I find the RL polos to be a superior shirt to say, gap or old navy polos or the ones my company makes me wear to company functions. They fit better and are sturdier, imho. The benefit of the horsey is that you don’t look quite so much like a T-Mobile Kiosk Cowboy . . . .

Yes, the Polo ones come with their collars pre-popped.

    Joel,

I think the difference is independent of the brand/no brand axis. Brooks Brothers used to sell both - with and without their logo - same price. I am beginning to suspect that one pays more for better-made garments sans logo - there being value attached to the absence of advertising.

The difference is the lightness of your pocket book.
