The Democrat’s campaign committee picked up the tab for two haircuts at $400 each by celebrity stylist Joseph Torrenueva of Beverly Hills, Calif., according to a financial report filed with the Federal Election Commission.

FEC records show Edwards also availed himself of $250 in services from a trendy salon and spa in Dubuque, Iowa…

First, what kind of a salon in Dubuque, Iowa can charge that much for a haircut? And secondly, this begs for me to ask, what is the most you have ever paid for a haircut? Also, what’s your thoughts on tips?

I once dropped $30 for a haircut at a Regis Salon in Dallas because the prices at the Regis Salons in Kansas are $17 and assumed it would be the same, not so much in Dallas. Normally I goto Sportsclips or a similar chain for my ho-hum doo.

I spend 65 on my haircuts, but I live in Santa Monica and go someplace trendy.

I pay $25 with a $5 tip here and it’s worth every penny.

i bought a set of clippers for $19 four years ago. since my hairline is slowly slipping backwards, it was taking a ludicrously small amount of time for them to (be paid to) cut my hair for $15.

john edwards needs a nice haircut; it distracts people from realizing any flaws beneath it.

Did you check the date on the article? This was from APRIL, guy. Seriously old news. This was talked about and blah blah blah’d forever ago. C’mon.

I used to spend $30 + tip which was normally $10 or $15. I couldn’t help it, she did a great job and was hot.

Then I came home from happy hour one night and decided to trim my sides up a little. Two hours later I had cut most of my hair off and ruined my roommates side-burn trimmer. The next day I bought clippers for $20 and haven’t looked back. I figure I’m spending $.10 a haircut right now and unlike everything else, that price drops each “visit.”

The most I’ve ever paid for a haircut is $35 (including tip) back when I worked in Irvine. Now I’m down to the $15-$20 level.

You know, this just strikes me as so much bleating. I’m a guy and I try to take some pride in my appearance, and I’m just a regular schmuck who goes to work, comes home, sees the wife, etc. If I were in a position to be seen by crowds of people and have my image broadcast on television every day, $400 is the lower limit of what I would probably spend on shampoo and conditioner alone. Give the guy a fucking break.

I used to pay $40 per haircut about 12 years ago when I was a young ‘mo on the go. Now it’s clippers at home or I grow it out long and pay maybe $25 every six months to tidy the ends.

I spend $80, but that includes color. Gaaaaaaay.

I shave my head. That makes it so much easier.

But I do spend $65 on occasion for a straight-razor shave at this gentleman’s barbershop here in Baltimore.

“what kind of a salon in Dubuque, Iowa”

Thats right, Iowa is just one of those ‘fly-over’ states of this country. How could we possibly have such a thing as a high quality spa amongst the corn fields and pig farms?

    Broaden your horizons folks.

The best haircut I’ve ever seen on Joel cost him nary a dime – he did it himself. Let’s see Presidential Candidate John Edwards pull THAT off!

Most professionals that we talk to spend around $60 for a cut and then the tip

~$25 on a haircut at sportclips, or $20 at supercuts. Seriously if you have just a “normal” men’s haircut I don’t see why you would go any higher. Now if you have some fancy pants retro doo or hair that will make you mistaken for a woman from behind, maybe spending more is worth it.

Money he spent on ’salon services’ could mean manicure, facials, etc. Some guys do that stuff. I’m guessing that all the presidential candidates do.

I’m just not sure where you would go to get a $400 haircut, or how it would be worth that much.

I know where to get that haircut. At the salon right next to this bridge I have for sale.
