I used to work for Budweiser actually, and yes, believe it or not, Budweiser is a popular beer in Ireland. It is actually the American brand Budweiser they are discussing in the article, which Guinness distributes, not the Czech one of a similar name. I know, I was just as surprised!

There is in fact another Budweiser, produced in the Czech Republic, which is pretty good (haven't had the opportunity to try Anheuser-Busch's Bud). The story went something like some enterpreneur used the brand in the new world without the knowledge of the original czech brewery's knowledge. Of course there were some trademark disputes because of the name, the end result was something like A-B cannot use the Budweiser brand in Europe, only in the States. I think it's pretty safe to assume that the article is talking about the "real" Budweiser

Just a quick correction. Guinness is spelled with two "N's", not one as you have in the headline.
