The laser cut serrated knives can't be sharpened. They claim that they don't need to be, but that's crap since these are usually not made out of good grade steel. Still though for $20 it's a great "first apartment" sort of thing. If you really wanted to do something nice, get this set and a single Global or Henckels 8" chef's knife.
