I’m sure the quality is nothing to write home about, but this 41-piece kitchen set is only $20 and has everything you need to kick-start your kitchen. The only thing it doesn’t include, tellingly, is a knife sharpener.

well, if these are laser-cut knives (which despite not being able to see in the small-ass picture they have on their site I’m sure they are) then you don’t need a knife sharpener. The laser cut serrated knives can’t be sharpened. They claim that they don’t need to be, but that’s crap since these are usually not made out of good grade steel.
Still though for $20 it’s a great “first apartment” sort of thing. If you really wanted to do something nice, get this set and a single Global or Henckels 8″ chef’s knife. It will add a hunnert fiddy bucks to the cost of the gift, but it will be so worth it.
