From the Denver Business Journal:
Oskar Blues Inc. of Lyons plans to open a second Colorado brewery and double its beer-making capacity to accommodate recent growth. The beer maker has leased 18,000 square feet of space in a former Packaging Resources Inc. building in Longmont, where it will brew and package all of Oskar Blues’ canned and kegged beer. The company’s existing, 2,400-square-foot Lyons brewery will continue to make beer for its brewpub there.
Oskar Blues’ production has grown more than 1,000 percent since it started selling canned beer in 2002, according to the company. The microbrewery is one of the first in the country to can its own beer.
Oskar Blues’ “Dale’s Pale Ale” is a fine beer, made all the more fine by the fact that it’s available exclusively in a can. I prefer drinking out of a bottle as much as the next guy, but cans are highly portable; it’s nice to have options.
Also, if you ever get an Oskar Blues beer on tap, their custom tap handle is…a can.
