150-Year-Old Beer Goes for a Half Mil on eBay

alsops.jpgAlthough the original story that pointed this sale out is shilling some sort of eBay software, it’s worth noting (as they did) that this bottle of Allsopp’s Arctic Ale, ” brewed for the 1852 Expedition to the Arctic lead by Sir Edward Belcher” and sold on eBay for over $500k, was originally sold by another man for $300. That’s got to sting.

I could care less about cracking it open—it’s certainly ruined by now and is just a museum piece—but I’d love to get the recipe. It’s probably just a standard IPA, but it’d be cool to say you’re sipping the same brew that once fueled arctic explorers.

Museum Quality ALLSOPP’s ARCTIC ALE 1852 SEALED/FULL!!! [eBay via Asawmy.blogspot.com] (Thanks, Carlos!)

Dude, please grow yourself a braincell. It’s not “I could care less” it’s “I couldn’t care less”. Think about it. Also? Learn to spell the word “noting”.

I don’t know if an IPA would be what I’d want if I were exploring the Arctic Circle.
