I won’t pose and say I’m a huge John Peel fan. I’ve listened to plenty of the famous UK radio host’s live programs, but not a ton. But today was his birthday—he passed on three years ago—and I figure it’s as good of a time as any to dig into the nigh-on endless amount of live music recordings that he made happen.
To that end, this very simple link to a seeqpod search that pulls tons of “Peel Session” MP3s out of the MP3 blogoworld.
Peel Session Search [Seeqpod]
The Peel Sessions were generally studio sessions with invited bands as opposed to live sessions.
Well, sure, live in studio, but still one take, right?
Sure, I can agree with that!
Part of the fun of the shows was listening to the man screw up and push the wrong button and so on. He wasn’t much of a DJ but man, he had taste. Good post.
