D&D 4.0 Announced

I haven’t played Dungeons & Dragons for years, but I do like to occasionally see what the rules are up to. It appears the rules are shedding the husk of the third (and third-point-five) edition to erupt crackling in a new “4.0″ edition sometime next year.

I’ve been trying to get other writers in New York to join me in a D&D game for a long time, but all they want to do is play poker. If I could figure out a way to make them lose real money while dungeon crawling, I might have something.

Any idea if 4.0 still embraces the “open source” philosophy of 3.0? I liked being able to browse 3rd party modules.

I didn’t even realize that Dungeons & Dragons was a release-controlled product. Of course, I haven’t played the game since 1978.

There’s no reason why D&D can’t become a fad TV craze just like poker (inexplicably) has. All you have to do is plant an article in US Magazine about how Lindsay, Paris, Katie, and Posh have a weekly D&D get together. Next thing you know, ESPN will be all over it.

Since D&D doesn’t exist in India, it’s Neverwinter Nights for us folks.

I was one of those kids in junior high school who thought he was too cool to play DnD, yet held weekly Marvel Superheroes RPG nights, cause I didn’t want to me one of -those- geeks. As you can probably gather, I wasn’t too bright back then.
