I never understood why, after you play 20-40hrs of a game developers give you lousy endings.  Clearly they don't give a crap about whatever story they came up with.  There are exceptions where the ending doesn't matter, like Soul Calibur. What little story they have is unintelligible due to lazy translating, poor writing, or both.  Endings of those games are equally inane, but entertaining:

"Finally you have become one to win our greatest battle!"

[lots of pointing and sword waving]

"NO!  You will not dishonor my father!"

[lots of bowing]

"OK, we will have to be separate on our thinking of our ways!"

"This is not enough for my sister and her quest!"

[fighting, someone dies]

"NOOOOO!"
