A) the guy is a luck SOB
B) the guy is a idiot for not instructing his kid on how to act if your attacked by a bear… the bear was leaving, he got the food and he was done. The kid throwing the shovel is what turned a bad situation into a deadly one. I ALWAYS make sure that every one camping knows EXACTLY how to behave if a bear comes, young kids included.
