Colon Cleansing Supplements: Scam or Healthful?
75 Comments Published by Joel June 4th, 2007 in Fitness. Share ThisMost of us internet nerds have probably seen Dr. Natura, the site selling a rather expensive colon cleaning kit by displaying pictures of strange things people have shit after taking the product. If you haven’t seen it, well, just imagine someone holding up some kelp on a stick, except instead of being harvested from the ocean it was harvested from their toilet bowl.
The premise behind these kits is this: All the strange, unhealthful things we eat build up a lining inside the intestines which prevents full absorption of food and might also be cancerous. By periodically shedding this lining—usually by taking some sort of supplement—you clear your G.I. tract of these wicked shit sheathes and attain renewed digestive health.
Of course, some argue that the lining of the G.I. system is actually something we want to maintain, filled with helpful bacteria and other generally positive bits of schmutz that make the whole thing chug along, and if one was to cause the body to shed the lining, the body would simply be forced to rebuild it.
There’s only one way to really find out, I figure, and that’s by taking some of the colon blow myself and seeing if I do actually feel better after it’s all said and done. But I’m not going to spend $200 on some fiber and some senna, so I’ll have to do a little investigation into the stuff available at the corner drug store when we get back into Brooklyn this evening. I figure I should probably wait until I get home before I cause part of my insides to force themselves screaming out of my body.
Take it from someone who has experience with this stuff…if you do a colon cleanse expecting to see that mucoid plaque dislodged, you’re sure to be disappointed. That tarry substance is said by some who have actually seen the inside of people’s intestines and colons not to exist and that it’s mostly the stuff you’ve been putting down your throat. Others, however, will tell you that it’s been sitting in there for years. Personally, after quite a few colon maintenance rounds, I’ve seen very small amounts of something that looked a little bit like those pictures you’re talking about, but nothing as drastic. I can recommend something that i know does a good job gently. But if you’re going to judge your success/failure on the amount to goo you pass, I’d say skip it altogether, because that would be missing the point. That stuff, if it is in there, might be a matter of how you’re programmed genetically to abosrb stuff, among other factors. Anyhow, keep an open mind, because a little extra fiber never hurt anybody.
Also, stay away from anything with bentonite clay, it’ll deyhdrate the crap out of you, and you need to be well hydrated to move whatever is in there.
Get yourself some Metamucil (don’t skimp and get the generic kind, as that is even worse to choke down than the real stuff), and take as directed. If you add a dash of cayenne pepper to the powder in your glass, it’s even more satisfying. By my unscientific, 5-year trial and error process, the pepper seems to help get everything out. Kind like throwing a lit match into a room full of pipe bombs.
It’s funny because I was just looking at something like this on Friday at http://www.blessedherbs.com, stunned by the pictures of giant rubbery excrement and wondering if it was legit or not. The basic colon cleanse they sell there is about $90, and they recommend doing a 5-day all-liquid diet for the duration. Theirs does appear to have bentonite clay in it, but I’d imagine if you were on an all-liquid diet during that time dehydration would be less of an issue. Part of their treatment is also some sort of “digestive stimulator” that basically seems to make sure you shit it all out.
From what I’ve seen, it seems like the biggest proponents of these kinds of things are your holistic “all-natural” alternative medicine types, and the ones who oppose it are traditional medical professionals. For as much as I’d like to believe in the holistic folks, traditional medicine tends to have a better track record for me personally. I’m very interested to hear how it turns out for you though.
The idea that we have nasty “build-ups” in our intestines is total B.S. This is another example of pseudo-health science that some people unfortunately buy into. There is no scientific fact backing these ideas.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colon_hydrotherapy
Its a big scam. There is no scientific backing to their claims. You don’t have “build-ups” in your intestines, that’s just plain nonsense.

My wife and I both did a cleanse. We didn’t experience anything like the pictures on some of those sites but we did think it was useful. It helped my wife restore some regularity and I just felt better. It’s easy to take and less than $20. http://www.vitabase.com/supplements/digestive-health/colon-health-natural-laxatives/7daycolon.aspx
Penn and Teller had a whole episode of Bullshit devoted to this. Like Darrell said its a complete and total scam that has been continuously debunked by colon health experts and scientists. Worse people have actually died from it.
But it looks gross, it must be bad for you.
My ex and I got the 3-month Dr. Natura kit and both did it. We both had exactly the same result: yeah, we shit often and with great ease, but nothing scary came out. Well, nothing scarier than usual. No weight loss, didn’t really feel any different, nothing. I felt great offloading that much freight, and the fiber stuff they have you drink works for the fiber boost.
The main benefit I saw was that most times I managed to get a ‘clean sweep’ afterwards; one pass with the tp and everything was peachy keen. And anyone with a fair amount of body hair will tell you that wiping a hairy ass is like cleaning chocolate pudding out of shag carpet.
Yes, I know that was totally unnecessary. I just wanted to infect you with that imagery.
Make sure to pick up something to read (or grab Picross for your DS, it’s been my water closet game of choice recently). But yeah, I expect it to be about as effective as ear candles…
Being highly skeptical of both the manufacturers claims as well as Wikipedia entries without any sources, I don’t have an opinion on whether or not it’s total bullshit. But I do have a question: Is it not possible that Dr. Natura and its ilk cause those great rubbery gobs of cytoplasm to form, and then be expelled from, your intestines?
In other words, just because you take the cure, and shit out a fetid stream of seaweed, how does that prove that the seaweed was there prior to your consuming the Dr. Natura’s whatever the fuck it is for a week or more?
I’ve used Colon Blow. It’s cheap, works well, and has pretty basic ingredients. Man does it taste like shit though.
http://www.colonblow.com/
It would appear that the poop-rope that is sometimes produced when taking these “cleansing” products is made out of what’s in the product, not what was in the colon before ingesting it — namely bentonite clay and psyllium. It looks like a rubbery cast of the inside of a colon…imagine that.
http://quackfiles.blogspot.com/2004/12/mucoid-plaque-dubious-idea.html
When I need to turn my insides out, a lot of coffee combined with a lot of water generally does the trick.
As someoene who suffers from IBS/constipation, I have some experience with this… you’re much better off taking a fiber supplement daily, imo. Or better yet, just eating lots of fresh fruits, veggies, & whole grains.
I do take psyllium husks daily, before and after the kit. I eat healthily. I poop regularly.
I have taken the blessed herbs kit.
I can tell you that I was still shitting out ropey, mucousy shit 5 days after having stopped eating. You cannot tell me that the corn and other unidentifiable items had not been sitting in my colon for some time. It was at least 5 days. And there were larger bean-sized things. I am only 28! So, I can tell you these beaner things in there were not bentonite clay or psyllium husk – they were solid. I didn’t disect them, but trust me.
There are various kits, and various types of laxatives. This one is gentle stimulant, not an evacutive cleanser (pulling water into the colon).
Your intestine does use and produce mucus. Yeah, you want to maintain the good bacteria, use a probiotic for that.
The fact is that, as your colon builds up toxic substances, the mucus becomes thicker. This is to protect your body from the bad stuff, just like when you get a cold. So, as it builds up and coats this bad stuff, it also blocks the absorption of nutrients.
Anyways, next time I do a kit like this, I am going to blog the shit and you guys can enjoy. I will even disect a beaner thing to see what it is – i guarantee you it isn’t the bentonite clay.
And for those worried about the Al content of the clay, do the full body cleanse immediately after -that is why they call it a kit!
Sounds like you work for them, J.
Nope, work for a financial planner.
In addition to studying financial markets, sociology, mechanics, and of course masturbation, I do love biology.
I research the hell out of anything I spend money on, too much in some instances. Anyways, after having read several books on the subject of diseases of prosperity vs. those of poverty, I am a firm beleiver that we eat too much fatty red meat here in the US. Then I started researching ways to counteract the (perceived) damage that I did with all those carne asada california burritos down in SD for the past 4 years.
That led me to try a kit.
I have fasted and done cleanses for about the last 6 years, to give you an idea of the scale of research I have done.
Man, I miss those burritos. Nothing like that here in Austin.
You guys are all full of shit
J-
Try Dee Dee’s taco’s in Lago Vista. Excellent CARNE GUISADA…
Heavy metal and parasites are the cause of most of the disease and sickness we all have. Find a good natural path to help you. Lupus is a infestation of parasites in the body and blood. I have been cleansing for 2 years now. It takes time and energy to push out all the toxins and parasites that are locked up in the body organs. It takes time to break down the layers, you guys have’nt seen the stuff because you have not done the work. I didnt think I had any parasites( not me) but I have counted at lest 7 kinds so far, that I could see. Hook worms, round worms(from veggies) by the way these are very comman to man, do your home work , liver flukes (from fish). And liver flukes are in bedded and lay eggs deep in the flesh. Parasites are here to break down the body and turn it into dust when you die and they are helping to break down the body any way. They are at work in our bodies and we need to wake up and take care of our bodies, eat right, and rid ourseleves of these bugs that are killing us sooner then our time, where ever there is cancers there is an infestation of parasites. Doctors don’t treat the whole body just the symptons, never getting to the root (heavy metals and parasites). We worm our cats, our dogs, our horses but not our selfs…..whats with that??? Check it out, this is the truth. I have gone through it and know and you are not going to hear this from your doctor, are you kidding, the law suits would start to fly if people knew that they could have been healed by changing their life style. One more thing, a person can be infested with parasites and have no symptoms until they come up with a disease. And then doctors start cutting out body parts that have been breaking down from the works of these bugs.
Hey Robin
I’m sure I have parasites I have worked around horses, ate sushi and drank well water for years……any suggestions on cleansing?
I don’t want to be ripped off :)
I also have kidney problems and even some of the natural stuff bugs me sometimes.
Thanks ;)
Thanks ROBIN and all! Get thee to a good ND I’d say Darcy. I was ready to buy cases of the Drnatura stuff until stumbling in here. My son has been suffering from chronic constipation and we very much suspect parasitic infection too. He also suffers from muscle soreness, irritability (manic at times), sore muscles, headaches, inflammation of fingers and toes (fungal me thinks) & weight loss. I am scared for him right now as he is in such a weakened state that he admitted himself to the hosp. They will push the meds and I gotta get to him first (I have printed your article Robin to remind him of why he quit trusting the MD’s 1 1/2 yrs ago)! I will now revert to my earlier plan of getting him to the best Naturopath in the area who specializes in what he needs. Costs a bit but would have spent the same on the clay laced product pretty quick (and he might have freaked out and never want to eat anything again). Actually he probably would have figured out the basic rule; garbage in, garbage out and refused to take it and my money would be flushed with no results. Good pics though and wonderful fireside stories!! Thank-you!
J- I want to know what kit you took. I am interested in the colonix and toxinout kits. Are those the ones that you took? They are so expensive, but if they work they are worth it. I have ate healthy and excercised pretty regualarly since I was about 14 so about 10-11 years. I still think I could use this cleansing though. I have got mixed results from a couple different peolple. I try to do my homework.
Thanks, ash
Well, took the Dr Natura Colonix and told my doc about it. He said the robbery stuff I saw was the same as if I mixed chewing gum with fiber. I read the label;he was right. DrNatura contains both fiber and guar gum. He said flattery is best compliment, so if I feel better taking fiber and gum just make sure you get it at a good price so he referred me to http://www.mdnatura.com not drnatura. Well what do you know the Organcas Colon Cleanse had the same ingredients as Dr Natura cleanser. The organicas colon cleanse also came with free $28 Probiotics like the one Dr Natura want you to pay $88 more to buy as part of their toxinout kit. I told my doc about it and said that the Natura people are smart, because the Probiotics should be included with the colon kit but instead the choose to give you with liver/kidney cleanse. He said stick with Organicas colon cleanse because the package make more sense since it contains probiotics. He was also more comfortable with the http://www.mdNatura.com Organicas colon cleanse since it was designed by Medical doctor and did not have those weird pics. Look at it this way you want your surgeon to get the job done not tell you that he will have tear you open resulting in gushing blood, pain nd infections. You want to do the job right and that is what Organicas colon cleanse did for me without all the hype. Bye I’m on day 11 of my organicas cleanse I going to take my probiotics now.
I did the colon blow (colonblow.com), and that was a little disappointing. I didn’t get the ropey nasty stuff, but I did go like the dickens. my girlriend did it to. for her it was the same. I didn’t look at her poo (but she snuck into my camera and saw pics of mine— hey, we’re close!) but she said hers looked similar. NOW…. I am vegetarian and fairly healthy. a strapping young buck with good looks and charm, so I think my colon was in pretty good shape. haven’t had meat since I was in high school— so a little over 10 years ago. I also have done the stuff by Dr Richard Schulze (just google the name), and his SuperFood is very good, along with the eyebright. boy oh boy, there is nothing like washing out your eyes. now THAT produced some nasty stuff
All in all, you have to clean your pipes, why don’t people understand this simple idealogy.
I really enjoyed DrNatura’s Colonix product! I have chronic constipation, and loved mixing the fiber with Tropicana Peach Punch every morning. A friend gave me a jar, so it was free. I passed lots of freaky sausage shaped stools with hard stuff inside. Was way better than being constipated. But, when it ran out, there I was back to tiny hard turds almost immediately!!! Anyway, decided to try the Almighty Cleanse, since it was only 7 day, according to their infomercial. Well, it took 40 days and nights for it to arrive LOL. They don’t tell you exactly HOW you have to take it either… First bottle, first day, one pill, next day 2, etc. until you have 3 bm’s a day. Day 7 I was taking 7 pills a day, without much relief! I actually was way more constipated than I was when I was simply taking Equate Fiber Pills, and eating an apple every day. I finally had a couple of movements, and decided to start taking Bottle #2. Well, directions say to continue taking the 7 pills from the first bottle, then add 7 pills from bottle#2, get this… 4 times a day!!!
WOW, that means I was taking 35 huge fiber pills, with added activated charcoal, and bentonite clay, along with 60 ounces of water just to swallow the pills, and not seeing any results!!! After another week, wow, I got lucky, and my friend shared her Colonix with me. One dose, and the next morning, I got the much needed relief I was hoping for. I wrote to The Almighty Cleanse, and am asking to return the few remaining pills, for my refund! Did research on the Organicas M.D. formulated Colon Cleanse. I would be willing to give it a try. Hope it tastes as good as Colonix! Does seem pretty fishy that ALL of the comments about this product dish DrNatura for not throwing in Probiotics for free. Actually, most each and every comment seems to have been copy and pasted from the website… hmm??? Any original comments or thoughts about this product??? Like apples? Try eating 2 a day. Eat the peel too! I do believe what goes in MUST come out. Thanks for listening! FN
Why not just go and get a colonic done by a qualified person. It takes a hour or so, and its done with warm water, and no chemicals. You might need a follow up but here in canada they are $50.00 per visit.
My doc was right the Organicas Colon Cleanse is much better product than DR Natura Colon Cleanse. I just came across this http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/D/DIET_FRIENDLY_BACTERIA?SITE=AZMES&SECTION=NATIONAL&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT do you know probiotics is really good for you helping from allergies, bowel problem an even those horrible yeast infections. I wish all doctors were like mine
I did a juice and fiber cleanse that produced rope shits like the ones pictured on dr Naturas site. If you want amazing results like the ones pictured, all you have to do is take an excess of fiber (psyllium husk powder works the best). I dont know if it is the fiber or some kind of intestine lining that comes out but it was definitely rope like, and didn’t break apart. If you want to try it yourself you will need psyllium husk powder and a gallon or 2 of organic juice. For your breakfast lunch and dinner, mix 2 – 3 heaping spoons of the fiber into a glass of juice and stir until it starts to thicken. Drink it quickly or else it will be the consistency of thick apple sauce. I did this for 2 days and passed some crazy ropes with weird stuff inside. Even though I hadn’t eaten for 2 days I didn’t feel that hungry because of all the fiber. I felt great afterwards and would recommend this to anyone who is considering one of those expensive programs. It is much cheaper and produces the same if not better results.
Well, I have to say that those pics of that rubbery black “goo” actually DO exist.
I bought a product from Walmart, that claimed to cleanse your colon. I was attempting to change my diet from a VERY unhealthy fast food infested burgers and steak abused one, to a complete vegetarian lifestyle.
I took the pills 2x a day for 25 days, fasted for the last 5 of them… on the 6th day, I had a bowel movement like I have NEVER seen, I was astonished. I actually crapped out that exact stuff that have seen on websites. Long rope like rubbery black and dark green ick!
I do not believe in buying those expensive products they promote on various websites. And have since experimented myself…. 5 day fast, water only. Fiber pills in the AM and again in the PM on the first day. and the 3rd day… By the end of the 5 day fast, your gonna see some crazy stuff, I am not saying it works for everyone, but I am saying… It worked for me.
I have been meat free for over 6 months, and droped 50+ pounds….
Email me anytime, I am not promoting any product, or any website, just an average chic who ran upon this on accident browse’n the web…

Wow, some real contradictory opinions on this page. I have done a little fact finding myself and I guess what it boils down to is that no two people are the same. John
Jury’s still out for me. I’ve been doing Colonix for about 3 weeks now.
I had to give up the Kleri tea as it was causing miserable diarhea, a problem I was already trying to help due to my long-time IBS.
So far the Colonix protcol is not producing the firm/normal stool I get from a $10 tub of regular psyllium which I think is a fantastic product. In any case, so far, my stool on Colonix pales in comparison to regular psyllium or Metamucil. Also, I’m not having those dramatic results seen on the Colonix website. However, here are the reasons I think Colonix might be working:
**I feel like shit and am very tired/achy
**I have had a bad case of acne since week 1 – a problem I don’t normally have
**I’m sweating like a fiend at night
All those are indicators of a detoxification process to me. I’m going to keep going and weigh my options at the end of week 4 or 5. Personally, that jar of Colonix seems that it will last far longer than a month.
We shall see!
The human body was designed to work perfectly at removing waste and toxins. While most of us do put a lot of junk into our bodies on a regular basis, changing our eating habits is the most effective way to regulate the system, which is the old boring act of eating more fiber and drinking lots of water. The colon purification companies know this and they know that peddling magic pills is more attractive that suggesting people eat more broccoli. That’s why many of their patented formulas contain psyllium which can be purchased at health food stores for about $5 a bottle. A simple bottle of Metamucil (or other fiber supplement) will help add extra fiber to your diet without having to ingest miscellaneous herbs that may do more harm than good. But hey…If it makes you feel better to spend $50 – $200 on a laxative then more power to you. Someone has to keep the crap masters in business.
Okay
Dr.Natura worked for me thats all I care about… I only started it recently and feel better, regular, more energy and lost the taste for sweets…
Hey people I never realised we could find so much to say about crap. And the end result is people seem divided on the subject. Personally i’m just loving the dialogue that’s taking place. I have to say i’m no closer to making my mind up about this whole colon cleanse thing
has anyone treid the lemondade diet? it seems brutal even though the resukts seem astonishing
Im wanting to order the Colon Blow. It is the only product I have found that isnt being sold by some hippy Dr.
There are too many salespeople on this site.
Sounds to me like buy a fiber supplement and reduce sugar can help.
started the lenonade diet today. planning to do 10 days, will let you know how I get on if you are interested. didn’t like the salt flush that i had to do first thing.

P.S. Dr Oz on Oprah recommends Acai an amazion superfood to promote longevity; The Black Cumin colon cleanse package also comes with this life giving formula
Colonix defitnitely works. I’ve only been on it for 3 days and can’t stop raving about it. Yes, it is a little pricey but totally worth it. 88 bucks for a one month supply but only 189 for a 3 month supply. So, that’s, buy 2 months and get one free. On the amount of money we spend today buying fast food, cigarettes, alcohol, and other junk… is 66 bucks a month, that bad? Plus, once you’re done with the 3 months, you don’t need to detox for another 6-12 months, depending on your post detox lifestyle.
I’ve tried laxitives on 4 separate ocassions and found that each time was like peeing out of my arse. I eat very healthy, veggies are my fav and yet still can’t seem to eat enough fiber to have regualr bowel movements. I go once every 3 days. I can’t even imagine where 3 days worth of food goes? I’m a small frame, 5′4 and 110 lbs. Friends and family make fun and say I must have worms inside me because the food seems to disapper into thin air. I love being able to eat a lot and stay thin but I hated having to feel bloated and constipated and “full” all day. I’ve been on Colonix for 3 days and have gone each day. I’ve also seen the rope like stuff and if this looks the way it does because it’s mixed with fiber and gum, so be it. I’m just glad I have regular BMs.
For those skeptical about Colonix, it’s worth the try. I’m sure many of you, like myself have already wasted money on items that don’t work. This product comes with a 60 day money back guarantee… it’s worth a shot. Yes, not every product will work the same for each person, that’s just life. Not all sad things make people cry and not all good things make people happy. We’re all different so what I have to say may help and may not.. I’m really hoping it will though.
“If You Get A Chance Take it…If It Changes Your Life Let It. Nobody Said It Would Be Easy, They Just Promised It Would Be Worth It” (forgot the author but love this quote) =) Ok, yikes! Back to work, I already spent 30 minutes on this. Guess i’m staying in for lunch today. =P
I have used some of these products with no real success to bragg about. But I do understand that according to the AMA that we need 25 grams of fiber a day but the average American gets only 7-10 grams per day. We also consume way to much processed flours that can slow down proper elimation. There is a product that I have tried and have had great success with it is marketed by DreamLife Products they have been in business for 12 years, so they are not fly by night, and have several products including Extreme Colon Cleanser and it is relatively affordable, about $12.95 plus shipping per bottle, I think the total is around $15.00 or you can buy by the case for around $7.00 per bottle. It has a blend of 23 fibers and softeners to assist with elimination but does not have a laxative effect. You just eliminate as you should. Not a miracle product just a good one with no overhyping.
I am currently on COLONIX & TOXIN and have been for at least 45 days. I too bought 60 day supply. I have found myself having BMs more frequently than what I was use to. But looking for the long unattractive sites in the bowl afterwards just discussed me. What I believe is happening, is that the fiber plus the tea are actually causing the frequency and not so solid waste release. I must admit I’ve seen the parasites but what was puzzling was the 5 day break. I didn’t have a BM for about 3 days and when I did it was normal stuff. I was only drinking the fiber with my juice in the morning and two liters of water everyday. I didn’t change my eating habits, except to eliminate beef only turkey or chicken, nothing fried and plenty of vegtables. But once I started back with the capsules, it started coming back out again 3 to 4 times a day. I think I’ll go by the health food store and look for some fiber the next time that’s not so pricie. Also, there has been no major weight loss, although they don’t claim that.
When I was younger my mother – who is into a lot of holistic stuff – did give me a diet that ‘did’ remove large amounts of the black hard stuff and the ‘goo.’
I have nothing to sell, and don’t suggest that you buy anything. Felicia has the closest to what my mother used – but her program added cinnamon, peppermint, rhubarb, and alfalfa – lots of it. Mike Jones is also close. I remember the long ropes of ‘fibrous’ stool and it sounds like he might have the same system my mom uses.
I am going to journal a colon cleansing at my blog http://healthafter40.blogspot.com/2008/03/i-will-start-colon-cleansing-april-1.html
Feel free to drop by and follow the process. I will let everyone post your experiences, and what works and doesn’t work for you. I have also linked to this blog post.
Save your money. Dr. Natura’s product made me feel worse!
If you need to “go” try Alli….works better and may lower your cholesterol..being that you become afraid to eat anything fatty.
I just looked at MDnaturas site and it makes me laugh that they try and make you believe that they are really giving you a huge deal. I love Dr.Natura and here is goes
You buy the Colonix package for $88.00 (it is $77.00 at mdnatura) then you can get a month of toxin out at 50% off SO you get the Probiotic, and the heavy metal removers and the toxin remover for only $44 additional dollars. Also, on orders of $60+ you get free shipping and you get it within 6 days.
BUT WAIT…
If you do not want to purchase the toxin out program you can order just the probiotics on the ‘products’ page at Dr.Naturas website and only pay $28 for just them.
Dr.Natura have THOUSANDS of testimonials and they have a money back promise, does MDNatura.com? NO, they DON’T. Personally, MDNatura rips you off more than anybody because they scammedall of dr.naturas stuff, take 11 dollers off the price and then label it as so much better than Dr.Naturas product.
Personally, I wouldn’t ever expect to get the products ordered from the mdnatura site, very unprofessional and just not very genuine.
You just get to eat according to your bloodtype or even better according to your Genotype. The appropriate to your blood/geno type diet will take care of all the problems with health except of probably parasites, so you still will have have to do dewarming once in a while. Blood/Geno Type will activate your “positive” genes. Genetics is some serious stuff! I have been on a blood type A diet for about a year – result is outstanding in every area of my life!
I’m am just starting my second month on Colonix and I have a rather high opinion due to something of a miracle. I’m almost 36 and have been a Pepsi drinker since oh about 5 years of age. For the past couple years I had at least 2 bottles of pop per day, every day. I wolfed down candy and chocolate as if they were medicine. I’d joke about that. That I got no real enjoyment from eathing that shit. That’s I ate the stuff like a cancer patient taking chemotherapy.
Anyways, about two weeks after starting the Colonix, I realized that I had no craving for soft drinks anymore. I stood staring at the wall of cold drinks at 7-11 and couldn’t pick anything that I really wanted to drink. So I got some fruit-flavored water instead.
I’m not kidding about my dependence on pop. I was forever saying that there was nothing better than the first long pull on a freshly-opened bottle of Pepsi.
On the other hand, I have not seen any remarkable items being voided from my body. There’s lots more of it though. I now only need one or two wipes at the most and there’s no straining or blockages. My stomach is flatter than it was when I started. That may not be related but I haven’t been dieting with the stuff at all. Normal eating habits continued.
I also last longer during sex and have more energy too. Although that may be due to the sudden lack of pop in my diet.
Overall, though I haven’t (yet) expelled anything exactly like the images provided on their site, I am obviously more healthy and energetic than I was before I started the Colonix.
OK, so basically, the colon cleansing supplement thing is complete and total bullshit, yet people come here and say “oh hey! I shit like a champ and felt so much better after it was done!” Hey geniuses, your changes in shit patterns come from things like the FIBER IN THE PRODUCTS YOU ARE TAKING, you can get THAT result from any old kind of proper fiber supplement (I eat this wheat bread marked “double fiber” and shit like a champ!) The seaweed shit strings come from stuff like BENTONITE CLAY that you INGESTED ALONG WITH THE FIBER. People who have cut open and shoved scopes up intestines for years and years have confirmed that this “layer of built-up filth” does not exist at all.
YOU FEEL THE WAY YOU DO BECAUSE OF FIBER MAKING THE SHIT COME OUT EASIER. It’s no mystery. IT’S *NOT* THE COLON CLEANSE CRAP EXCLUSIVELY! Eat three bowls of brown rice and two tuna salad sandwiches with double fiber wheat bread and you’ll easily end up with the same effect: a nice big satisfying shit with little to no cleanup afterwards! You don’t need colon cleansing garbage to get such effects.
If you paid for a colon cleansing product, you’re pretty much a complete fool who fell for that shit because you didn’t research it properly first (lemme guess, you only read propaganda sites to make yourself feel good about the purchase before actually buying it, right? Shameful.)
One visit to Quackwatch and you’d know why this “colon cleansing” stuff works the way it does. IT CAUSES THE THINGS IT CLAIMS TO CURE.
I’m sorry, but you’re so fucking STUPID if you fell for it and paid for this shit. A can of Metamucil surely doesn’t even cost $10, and you paid 5-10 times that much. HAHAHAHAHAHA!
Now if you will excuse me, I have a nice big peanut log in my ass that I have to drop off. Do you realize how fucking GREAT my day is going to be knowing how much money I save by not being a FUCKING IDIOT like you colon cleanser purchasers all are?! HAHAHAHAHA! SEE YA, LOSERS!
In the famous words of the Lone Ranger: Take a dump, take a dump, take a dump dump dump!
People on here reporting that the mucoid rope is just “gum mixed with fiber” have no evidence to back up this claim.
I have been on the Colonix program for 34 days, and just began the Toxinout program. I am not here to sell any product, but I am here to say that saying Colon cleansing programs are a “scam” is irresponsible, and inaccurate.
One thing that the dr. natura company definitely addressed that is very important is that indeed, every person is different. Therefore, the prescribed plan must be tweaked for the individual. One person may need to take more fiber/steep the tea longer when another may steep the tea for a very short time and use less fiber. Their customer service is very caring and responds promptly and thoroughly to help the program work for the individual.
Doing this cleanse has completely changed my life for the better. Reporting that something is a scam with no hard evidence is irresponsible because people that may REALLY need help, and that a program like this could help are going by your OPINION, SKEPTICISM, AND SPECULATION on something.
Also, saying the human body was designed to eliminate all toxins is absolutely ridiculous. Most of the things in modern foods, non-organic vegetables (treated with pesticides), and all kinds of other things we put in our body didn’t even EXIST when the human body was designed. How are we to expect that our bodies were designed to process something that wasn’t even in existence. That’s just pure ignorance right there.
There are several products out there, and people on cleanses that do not include any type of fiber or gum ALSO have passed the rope. So saying it’s what’s in the mixture that makes that is WRONG!
From personal experience, there is NO WAY POSSIBLE that what is in these products is creating what is coming out of me. Especially the parasites. Worm eggs, candida yeast, liver flukes. I really do not think that any combination of herbs could “create” these.
I am no doctor, and I am no expert. But I can say 110% that colon cleansing is not a scam. My quality of life has improved ten-fold since I started this cleanse.
How dare you people post skeptical comments suggesting these things are scams, you are just trying to prevent people from doing something that could help them!
Well, when I first ran across an ad for BlessedHerbs.com it made me curious about all this colon cleansing crap (pun intended). The pictures kinda freaked me out, but after reading all these posts I’m convinced that colon cleansing IS just another scam. I’m doing an experiment:
I’m going on a mostly liquid diet and adding a ton of extra fiber (FiberSure, made of vegetable inulin – is that anything like psyllium?) to everything I eat/drink. I’m hoping to find some of the scary crap like in the pictures, but I’m positive all it’s going to make me do is poop clean (yay less toilet paper!) and feel a little healthier. I’ll letcha all know how it turns out.
Peace.
First of all, the expensive “cleanse programs” are a waste of money and they amount to the same as using Metamucil or Citricel and mixing it will water or juice. The “expensive” programs are exactly that programs and they won’t tell you anything or help you do anything unless you pay the high price for their products. As I said Metamucil or Citricel mixed with water are the same thing and work wonders. Use your head, do your homework, research and you can do it yourself safely.
WARNING: The programs are expensive due to the fact they are PRE PACKAGED!!! My word of warning to you all. If they will not disclose ALL of the ingredients to you, don’t bother with them. Just because it’s “all natural” doesn’t mean it’s safe for everybody. Especially if you take prescription medications. These “all natural” ingredients can interact with prescriptions and can cause some really bad adverse reactions and sometimes fatal ones. If they tell you its completely safe because it’s natural. Tell them that arsenic and hydrochloric acid are also natural and are not safe.
Everyone’s bowels work differently. It is normal for people to lose some colon tissue with every bowel movement. Some people lose more than others. Go ask any contractor that does septic or sewer work. They will tell you this.
A persons diet plays a large part in this also. If you eat ALOT of red meat and refined foods then Metamucil or Citricel 2 or 3 times a day would benefit you ALOT.
Because of the amount of preservatives, pesticides and herbicides used in our foods today along with the use of steroids, hormones and antibiotics used in the meat products we eat (unless you eat 100% organic as I do) your body needs alot of assistance to get rid of the chemical residues. I guarantee that since I started eating organic meat, veggies and fruit. Started using Metamucil 2 times a day I feel alot better. The vast majority of other health complaints I had have disappeared.
People who seem to benefit alot from cleansing have IBS or another form of digestive disorder. Also those whose diets are very poor benefit from this.
This is what my family doctor to me when I was a teenager…Yes, death starts in the colon if your diet is terrible and include too many refined foods.
I agree with Robyn’s comment. Body cleansing is a must for every person. With DrNatura or without.
I am on the program DrNatura and Toxinout for 8 days only (I even started almost daily blog). I believe it works differently with different people. My friends also share their experience with me (there are 5 of us bought one month supply because it is cheaper and also because body cleaning is a GOOD IDEA!)
Body cleansing is not a scam definitely, but you choose your own way how to do it… keeping good health does cost money but it worth it!
I have taken Dr Natura out of curiosity and was not aware that I was infected with intestional parasites until three weeks into it. If it wasn’t for this program I would still be walking around assuming I was “just a little backed up”. It is better to take it with no expectations and see what happens.
I did the Colonix treatment and it was cleanin me out real good. I had stuff backed up from grade school, At first ,it was an eraser comes rolling out, then a few crayolas-couldn’t tell the colors. By day 5, I hit the big one so to speak. I took a dump so big I thought I would be giving it a name. And to my utter shock and amazment. it was not only big but it looked like a statue of a man and the face area was no mistaking, It was George Bush!-I couldn’t believe it. The Secret Service has asked me to send it to them but National Enquirer is giving me a better deal. I’m taking it on Oprah next week and I feel much lighter. A big weight has been lifed off my ass. I’m getting my 15 minutes of fame right now just like Joe The Plumber. Him and I both have the same agents and he’s sending us on tour together. I have a book coming out soon called The Beast Within-The Turd And I -Great product -WORKS GOOD!
Here’s an idea… just eat a healthy diet full of fruits, veggies and whole grains. I’ve been eating such a diet for years and I’m very regular and barely need any TP when I go. Or you can spend $90 for a product that turns into seaweed when you shit it out.
I started the Dr. Natura’s yesterday. I have not done all the research but thought the product may be worth the try. I’ll report back to this site on a regular basis so you can see if it’s a bunch of bullshit.
I started Dr. Natura’s Colonix 4 days ago and so far i must say i agree with Robyn that it is definitely not a scam.
Is there a far less expensive way to do a similar type of cleanse?
Most likely.
However at the same time to call Colonix expensive if it gives me the results i am looking for and that so many others have attested to is ABSURD.
where i live in NYC it could cost more than this entire cleansing program just to take a friend out to dinner!
For someone who doesnt have the time to research a cheaper way and is not homeless or living hand to mouth this program is quite reasonable if it works.
And based on my experience over the past 4 days i would have to say it is at least working so far……..
My husband’s family has had remarkable results from Dr. Natura, though I have an irritable colon and do not advise taking any combo colon cleansers without first seeking a Gastro’s opinion (or two or three) if you’re in a similar boat.
My husband, his mom and cousin love the stuff and use it at least twice per year, for one or two months at a time. Aside from keeping them regular and feeling better all around (which could be partially contributed to the no red meat during), they’ve never had creepy, sea kelp looking things poop out, but what appears more like a thin lining/build-up from their intestines. Good, right? His cousin, though gross at it sounds, used to have anal leakage, which completely humiliated him. After one month on Dr. Natura, that completely went away, and he felt it was all due to that stuff! Now he uses is regularly.
Now for me, I used it for a week until I had severe colon pain, which I do not particularly blame on Dr. Natura. My colon was already acting up prior to my usage. So, I say try the stuff…or just stick to the lemon, maple syrup and cayanne pepper cleanse! Cheaper, but I hate going without food!
oh and i also have a thing called irritable bowel syndrome if i took this colon stuff would it affect me?
Don’t knock it if you haven’t tried it. Very pleased with the results. Did everything it said. Little frightening to see whhat I’ve been storing up all these years. Dropped a few pounds, have less appetite, moe energy, and skin is looking a lot better. May be better, or cheaper, products out there – but was very satisfied with this one.
Hi everyone well iam not sure i understand, so is it good to use colon cleansing products if so what kind?
I’ve used the colon cleanse and the plaque removal from Blessed Herbs after I had been bitten by a brown recluse and for months after I started to go down hill had many boils, but just sickly all the time. After trying many products to get my strengh back I was told about cleansing kit and the colon cleanse. Well after doing the cleanse and then the plaque removal I felt like a new person. I even waitied three weeks before I did the plaque removal again because it seemed like only half of the stuff came out. Well the second time I did the removal the plaque was thicker. I had pains in my intestinal area that would hurt for years and the doctors didn’t seem interested enough to look into it. Well those pains are gone. It seems that years later I have had diverticulitis and had pouches filled with food.
http://www.blessedherbs.com Not a scam the Cleasning Kit is a wonder, it is precisely put together. The Plaque removal amazinf.
try eat vindaloo and it might helps..heard vindaloo kills parasities and eggs too..
Several entries have ridiculed the idea that weird sea weed looking “crap” was in the toilet. I took the Dr Natura program and even though I don’t have a miracle story about the product, something did happen to me several months before I started using their product. I have sort of a heart condition so I take fresh crushed garlic every day. When I first started eating garlic I was eating 5-7 cloves a day. I was driving my wife crazy. One day I did my business and the only thing in the toilet was this strange looking thing that looked just like the weird stuff you see in the pictures at Dr Natura’s web site. Many at this site have made fun of the idea that this weird stuff came out of some one. They make it sound as if it either didn’t happen or was caused by the product they were taking. When I did the Dr. Natura thing, I didn’t have any weird results. So, my only point is that there was something weird inside me. Garlic and not Dr Natura extracted it, never the less it was there.
Because… Wikipedia is the official word on everything. *enter sarcasm here*
It is amazing and nearly every comment seems somewhat valid. Traditional medicine has an agenda, but when my son and daughter-in-law graduated from med school, Dr. Carmona, was the 17th Surgeon General at the time, mentioned “Do no harm,” and he also said medicine is not simply drugs, surgery, etc., and that there are many alternative avenues to consider when appropriate, but of course he was very unconventional himself as he did high school via the equivalency test, GED, rather than graduated. The point being, when it comes to the truth, it too often is perverted due to the profit incentive, which is too often rampant in everything and is part of our nature. All any of us want other than the occasional marketing ally of the factions discussed, is the truth based on real science and verifiable results. A picture of some rubbery debris looks authentic, but we’re all aware how manipulation of pictures can be done. Then there’s the possibility the colon kits manufacture the grotesque material from the ingredients they contain. Further, since nobody, from the comments I read, claimed the same results that does cause one to pause. So, since the goal is good health where can truth be found? One way is to file a lawsuit claiming the companies involved are scams and for the reasons already discussed. Lawsuits do have a way to finding who’s telling the truth and who isn’t, usually. But then we must remember O.J. and Nicole, but this is civil and important for obvious reasons. Perhaps Naturopathic Clinics or colleges like Bastyr in Kirkland, Washington and there are several more. Then there’s the Merck Manual, website: http://www.merck.com/mmpe/sec02.html
That goes right to gastrointestinal disorders. My daughter in law is a gastroenterologist, but she’s head surgeon on the Abraham Lincoln carrier heading for the Pacific as I write this comment and I can’t reach her by cell phone. The truth exists; we simply have to look in the right places.
Of course, probiotics, enzyme supplements, real yogurt and not the sugared up junk sold in supermarkets and also health food markets would jump start us in a good direction. Need I mention bone broths, organic produce and take the lesson of animals that eat the stomach and intestine contents whereby the food is semi-fermented and many digestive juices intact. Raw produce is not easy to digest and raw goitrogens like broccoli, cauliflower, etc. are fine cooked, but raw they cause digestive problems. Some people eat regular wheat and pity the poor sod eating soy products other than fermented soy products, the grains and soy are loaded with chemicals designed to prevent digestion. Raw meat from grass fed animals has all the enzymes intact to aid digestion, for we all know, we aren’t what we eat, but, Quote, “We are what we digest.” All illnesses start in the gut according to current health practitioners and Hippocrates. Many have stated fast foods, the sugary (cancer is a sugar junky) processed foods are key to ill health yet to eat every meal with only occasional diversions at home, prepared from scratch is something most folks can’t or won’t do. All this stuff, however, is related to factory farms, drug companies, processed food companies, and none of them produce 1% out of 100% food that is healthful, it’s all profit first, people don’t matter marketing. Betty Crocker, that non-person, uses 38-80 ingredients in its baked goods products and brownies contain 42. How did they do that? Last count for a home recipe was nine and as few as seven. Actually, most of the others are chemicals, ah yes, we bath in chemicals, breath chemicals, eat chemicals, dye hair with chemicals, the truth is, we’re saturated with them all day long, and of course in our homes we’re subjected to 88,000, plus our cars and clothing and the water we drink is loaded, too. So, it comes down to: What are we going to do about it? We could do the hard work of insisting our Viagra-ridden, drugged politicians do something, but our health is not something they know much about simply because they don’t live in our world. They have to have their collective noses rubbed in our world or nothing is going to change. I do know one group of people who could change the world in a month, or start the process, and that’s every mother, teen daughter, grandmother, wife, girl friend, aunt, etc., were to get on their hind legs, organize, and then march on every state capital and Washington DC, and scream at the top of their lungs for change, mercy, what a sight to behold. Politicians would hide under their desks, chemical companies would cringe in terror, drug company officials would call out the National Guard (to no avail), factory farm corporations would suddenly be thinking, “You know, maybe it’s time to stop poisoning the water, the soil and the food that affected, and give the land back to the people, with rules to abide by, of course.” These women have husbands, sons, fathers, cousins, etc., but men don’t have the volubility of angry emotional women, but we sure as hell are not going to let harm come to them. The female of the species has a distinct advantage, they can access their amygdala, that is, the most primitive part of the brain where nothing positive is emitted, it’s a primal scream and if any of you have been in the company of a female who emoted from that sector, you know how frightening and effective it can be, it takes your breath away. Only when adolescence is reached can the female of the species do this. Changing course, a bit, autism used to be 1 in 10,000, now it’s 1 in 150, in other words, epidemic proportions. ADD and ADHD now are seen in 1 out of 3 children, mostly boys. Is this coincidence?
This is starting to look like a dissertation, and that isn’t the intent, the only goal was to find the truth. I’ll keep looking, and along the way try a little intimidation, some factual studies if available, and if I find them, I’ll let you know. I’ll leave you with one more thing: The guts smushed (sic) together look like the brain, they also have the same receptors. Listen to your gut.
If you want probiotics just go to the grocery store and buy keifer yogurt drink for 3-4.00. It has 10 different kinds of good bacteria in it as opposed to Dr. Natura’s version that only has 7.
I did the blessed herbs colon cleanse this week and I have to say that the stuff that came out of my ass was NOT JUST CLAY. There is no guar gum in this formula, only clay, psyllium, apple pectin, ginger, and dextrose. The digestive stimulator is all herbs.
When I first started the cleanse I saw the fiber/clay bound to the remaining stool that came out of my body, so I know that it looks nothing like the massive amounts of ropey mucus that followed for the next five days. I know what mucus looks like.
You have to do the cleanse correctly or your results will be disappointing. Everyone’s body is different.
omg, all you people who are constipated, a plain water enema will do the trick in no time flat, and only costs the purchase of a Fleet Enema (or something similar) the first time. Just save and the bottle and sterilize the tip. Then, change your diet! You know, prunes are really tasty! Or drink the fiber stuff if it helps, but, oh dear, know that this is a scam.
Consider the following:
A quack says that you must use his product or you will surely suffer. If you do and you feel better, the quack can say, “See, it works!.” If you do and there is no change, the quack can say, “Oh good, we’ve caught it in time, at least you aren’t getting any worse.” If you do and you feel worse, he can say, “Oh dear, it looks like we were too late. There’s no hope for you.”
An answer for everything.
Great article, and alot of great comments as well. An herbal aid in cleansing the colon can help speed the process and produce relief sooner those having issues, however, nothing will replace a healthy lifestyle. For those who cannot be mindful everyday of what they eat, or are unable to get the level of excercise they need, having some help a couple times a year, to cleanse the colon, maybe a good practice.
My site is dedicated to helping people find that balance.
I agree with Robyn – how the hell is this a SCAM or snake oil.
that is WAY too harsh. Just because you can get it for alot cheaper doesn’t mean it’s a SCAM ou all are like the crying wolf boy “scam! scam!” you are so annoying and simple.
First of all this is PRE PACKAGED, with detailed DIRECTIONS, and a SUPPORT you can call. This is for someone who doesn’t really know what they’re doing and wanna do serious detox.
Even the site that claims it’s all a scam admits that it WORKS.
When will people realize that testimonials about colon cleansing really are a pile of shit? People, ask for scientific proof and evidence, not almost-anonymous testimonials!
Here’s one clue: ask your physician (MD or DO) if you need to cleanse your body or your bowels. I bet you he/she says it’s all a scam.
Who do you trust more? Your personal physician or someone selling something on the Internet?
If you really believe in cleansing/purging/whatever maybe you should take some snake oil. I hear it works wonders! I’ve even seen testimonials!
