Historic Cutty Sark Clipper Ship Goes Up In Flames

The “Cutty Sark,” the famous 19th century clipper ship whose image graces the bottles of the lightly colored blended Scotch Whisky, caught on fire yesterday, an accident that “is expected to drastically increase the cost of a $50 million” restoration, to put it lightly. Fortunately the ongoing restoration meant that most of the historical pieces were currently off the ship, so the ship should be able to be rebuilt minus the original decks, which are now pretty much ash.

think the original decks were teak, not ash.
