Based on the ’70s series starring Lindsay Wagner—although the new version drops the “The”—”Bionic Woman” is a new hourly drama added to NBC’s Fall line-up, starring English soap star Michelle Ryan as Jaime Sommers. A four-minute preview is online at NBC.com, which includes a shot of Katee “Starbuck” Sackhoff as an older model of bionic woman, who seems to have something up her knickers.
Sackhoff isn’t the only Battlestar Galactica connection. Producer David Eick was also a producer on Galactica.
It looks okay, actually. (Although be warned that the preview trailer pretty much spoils the whole first episode, at least.) I’m willing to put aside the idea that a government program would create a super-soldier more powerful than they could actually control, at least as long as they keep having hot women duke it out on rainy rooftops. That should be good enough for at least the first season. After that, they’ll have to live up to standards set by network-mate Heroes.

Woa, that show looks ridiculous! I just hope that BSG doesn’t lose anything now that David and Katie are involved in another project.
Well BSG is a NBC show (its on SciFi but NBC owns SciFi) and her contract basically states while she can do guest appearances and the like, she cant go to another show as the star (which is why shes not the title character which they had been looking at, only a reoccurring arch-villain type)
So I wouldn’t really worry about her being in another project. Most of BW was filmed while she off from BSG this year anyway.
I’d tone down the bionic hair flips a little.
Unless she has bionic fingernails like the real Jamie Sommers, I don’t wanna have nothing to do with it. No way, no how.
I got a chance to watch the pilot last night…
And, wow. I mean, WOW. It’s t-t-t-t-terrible. This is coming from a guy who loves BSG, by the way. There’s no dark re-invention of the show here, gang — just cheese upon cheese.
Amongst the most cheddar-filled moments? When a little girl looks out the car window and sees Ms. Sommers running supra-fast (with a terrible special-effect) through the woods. She, of course, tells her mother (who is driving) about it, and her mother scolds her for making it up. The girl responds with: “I just didn’t know girls could do that, I thought it was cool.”
Uck.
