Most of the time we like to post up images of bad, really bad, and super bad ink that only complete dickheads bereft of the clue would wear, but every once in a while we come across something that just works so well that we have to throw it up here instead. This one kind of straddles both categories, with one foot in the past and the other firmly entrenched in the future. I like the story it tells—that at one point the person’s life was so in the shitter that she decided to end it. From the length and depth of the scar, it looks like she wasn’t fucking around, either. This does not seem to have been your typical “call for help,” though there was clearly some kind of intervention; she’s still here. And thank god for that, because as far as I’m concerned, this world needs more survivors who have been able to turn that corner with a serious commitment and a sense of humor. (The duckie saftey pins on the end just kill me.)

I love it when someone uses ink to augment scar tissue instead of trying to cover it up. It’s shameless, it doesn’t try to hide the past, but instead accepts it, works with it, and moves on. With this case in particular, I can’t help but give credit where it’s due.

The Tattoo in Question [Last Night's Party]

well, the image is from those hiptards at last night’s party, so you have to assume that the girl cut herself just so that she had a cool tattoo and would seem edgy.

That is pretty obviously a deliberate scarification.

Regardless of the origin of the scar, I like the tattoo.

I’m trying to think of a good design to incorporate my prolific stretch marks…

Speaking of scars, I saw a show last night I might suggest to those not faint of heart. “Scarred” on MTV shows some pretty gruesome injuries as they happen and even some of the surgeries used to repair the injuries. The host is Papa Roach who seems kind of douchey and there is a lot of filler, but the money shots are pretty compelling.
