I don’t like to talk about games I haven’t yet played on Dethroner, simply because I’d like to keep our videogame coverage limited to the cream of the crop. And I haven’t played the upcoming racing simulator Forza Motorsport 2 for Xbox 360 yet, because I’m no longer on that magical press list which causes you to receive free copies of games. But damn it, I am hyped about Forza 2, and this video gives you a clue why: a classic American muscle car going up against classic Japanese mid-rear is exactly that sort of match up that makes these kind of videogames so much fun. (Even if it is sort of ridiculous to pit a ‘69 Camaro SS against an MR2 in a course with any twisties.)

While the physics and handling of the cars will make or break any racing game, I am just as excited about all the Xbox Live-powered features, such as an online auction house that serves as a place for you to sell your custom painted and tuned cars. Cannot wait for the release date on the 29th of May. Unfortunately, when I’m this excited about a game, it usually can’t live up to the image of it I’ve created in my head.

I repurchased Forza one a couple months ago when i found out it got pushed back again. I suck at RWD cars. Hopefully I won’t suck as much when I get the wireless racing wheel in.
I went to home depot last night and bought a drill and some bolts and stuff. I have a spare car seat from the Z that I will be making a rig out of. I think I want to get the wheel delivered before I get to far so I don’t make something that doesn’t fit.
Allegedly the demo should be out on the marketplace next week. 20 cars, just one track i think though. that should be fine until the end of may.

Yeah, this game seriously better live up to the hype because I opted for 360/Forza2 over PS3/GT.

Though, I could probably play a game that entirely consisted of painting cars and selling them on virtual marketplaces. I watched an interview with one of the developers and he was talking about how you could play the game, and never win a race, and still have tons and tons of money because you are a great designer.

I’m also considering the wheel, but I just don’t have any surfaces in front of my TV to bolt it onto, does anyone know if you can use it just in your lap?

Yeah, it’s designed well to go on your lap. There are some pics that illustrate better on amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Wireless-Racing-Wheel/dp/B000HZA1QG/
It’s on sale for $130 there, which is still a lot, but it seems like Forza was designed with it in mind with the force feed back and rumble stuff.
