So I inherited a pair of white jeans from my fiance’s dad (rather, he got them from her mother doesn’t like them nor can fit in them so they went to me) The questions become though…1) What shirt do I wear these with? 2) What belt do I wear this with? 3) What shoes do I wear this with?
And lastly: 4) WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU WEAR WITH WHITE JEANS?!
Obviously white socks. But yeah, after that I’m stumped. Even more is it even worth it, like is it a look people pull off or is it destined to the Salvation Army bin?
First: white socks? Really?
Your desire to wear what I am sure are white gym socks with jeans worries me—will you be able to pull off white jeans at all?
The socks part is actually easy: white goes with everything. Colored socks will look fine. Bright colors will look great. No socks and loafers will work fine, too. Just anything instead of white gym shocks, which should really only ever be worn with sneakers and jeans. (Although I tend to not do even that; I just like nice socks.)
Shirts? Again, white goes with everything. But the obvious place to start is a white or black shirt—a clean button-up with short sleeves, let’s say. Go preppy. Or try a striped shirt or a carmel-colored cardigan. Think of what you’d want to wear on the docks, while peering from under your shading hand across the ocean for a ship full of interesting socks.
You may not need a belt, but a white belt would be fine (this is a rare exception), as would a black or brown leather belt. Belts should really be matched into the whole outfit and style and heft is more important than color. GQ suggests no belt at all and I cannot strongly argue against their position.
In short: Lean toward the preppy side instead of the hair metal side and you’ll be fine.

If they’re tight fitting, throw them the fuck out.
That said, I agree with Joel on the socks. Maybe even consider not wearing socks (depending on your shoes). Bright colors are the way to go.
i agree on the sock thing. the only time i ever wear white gym socks is to the gym. i would go with bright colored socks and a bright colored tshit. hipster, sure, but just make sure you aren’t fat. fat and white do not go together.
lol well I figured white socks since your supposed to match jeans to socks, but yeah totally at a loss on this one.
They are not bad jeans, not tight but not baggy and it would seem a shame to throw them away.
I second everything Joel sad, adding only this: White jeans are bold, awesome when pulled off correctly, and tragic when fucked up. if you envision an italian filmmaker from the late ’50s/early-mid ’60s, you’ll do great. I like pairing them with a horizontal striped shirt and a short white jean jacket, and some dark sunglasses. Add some pointy-toed boots and a belt to match, let your hair get a little shaggy, and you’re the height of Swinging London.
Just don’t start your period while wearing them.
i agree on the nautical theme – only unless you’re going with the groovy boots like alex suggested, i would go sockless.
Wear a brown leather belt, no socks, boat shoes or sandals, and just about any strongly colored polo or crewneck (no pastels). Sit outside at a nice cafe with a and let the babes drip off you and your freshy stylez.
To each their own, but when boat shoes = freshy stylez, I don’t mind being unhip. Boat shoes. Boat shoes! Barf-o-rama. Makes me think of Docksiders. Why stop there, and turn your izod collar up and wear a striped duck canvas belt?
jika tabi boots/ the hide of your enemies.
Gotta go for a cardigan (possibly black or grey or if you fancy living on the edge an electric blue). Join this with a vest underneath the cardigan, if wearing a black cardigan go for a white vest and also white vest for every cardigan.
White socks as you say.
Plimsolls – white ones always go down well.
and finally an all saints belt to top it off and add to that indie-rock and roll look!
That is what i would do, possibly add some acccesories also, necklace, earring, bracelets?
