trioBike: Carrier Bike Doubles as Bicycle

The trioBike is three vehicles in one: a bicycle, a pushchair (or “pram”), and a carrierbike hybrid the lets you store two kids up front while you power with the bike in the back. Built by a Danish company of the same name, the trioBike has already won an SAS Scanorama Award for “Best Scandanivian Designer,” according to Machine Design magazine. All this slick design isn’t cheap; a basic pushchair and trioBike combo goes for € 2,372 before any customization like seats or a hood. Even if trioBike does come to the US as rumored, I can’t imagine anyone here paying several thousand dollars for a bike they can’t even use in most of the dangerously narrow bike lanes of America.
The trioBikes look to be inspired by an older Danish bike designer “Christiania. The Christiana bikes don’t seem to disassemble into regualar bicycles, but they’ve got a lot more charm.

neat idea, WAY to fucking expensive.
that would be awesome for trips to the grocery store, too.
I think we should find a couple of wealthy charity givers (like C. Slim & B. Gates), a bike manufacturer in china that would make them dirt cheap and deliver a boat load to third world countries. Oh…..and with no profit!!
