Is George Lucas Developing A Sense Of Humor?

I’ve always heard that George Lucas was a control freak who doesn’t like other kids to play with his toys, but perhaps that’s ill-informed hearsay after this bit of news. Or maybe now that he’s a bloated old fart with more money than god he’s relaxing a little bit. Either way, this is exciting news: He has signed on to voice his own character in a Lucasfilm-approved Star Wars parody on Robot Chicken.
Seth Green and Matthew Senreich, the creators of the Adult Swim show, will be producing a special half-hour episode of their irreverent stop-motion program to be aired at 10 p.m. June 17th as part of a Robot Chicken marathon.
An impressive list of personalities will be providing voice-over duties on the special, including Conan O’Brien, Malcolm McDowell, Hulk Hogan, and Mark Hamil as Luke Skywalker.

Do we really live in a world where “Conan O’Brien, Malcolm McDowell, Hulk Hogan, and Mark Hamil as Luke Skywalker” constitute an “impressive list of personalities”? I’d go with “a kinda funny guy with crazy hair and three has-beens”.
“In a world…where a kinda funny guy with crazy hair….and three has-beens…constitute an impressive list of personalities…ONE MAN will take a stand…“
Well, he did contribute a parody to Stephen Colbert’s green screen challenge a couple of months ago, so this change of heart isn’t a brand-new development.
Maybe now that he’s done making Star Wars movies (unless the little Don Quixote in his head is still kicking at that windmill), he’s starting to develop a sense of perpective. Either way, good on him.
