The Bloviator Chews Out His 11 Y.O. Daughter

I don’t know what’s more disturbing: The way that Alec Baldwin would take such offense at his daughter, Addie, an alleged “rude, thoughtless little pig”, for not picking up the phone when he called, or that, presumably, her mother, Kim Basinger, leaked the incensed rant he left on her voice mail to the public.
Baldwin made repeated threats to “come out there and straighten [her] ass out for good.” He said he’d be on a plane on Friday the 20th,” was very specific about the date. On the other hand, perhaps he was merely auditioning for one of David Mamet’s Ford commercials.
Divorce is hard, when you add children and custody matters to the issue, it is that much worse; nobody’s arguing that Baldwin needn’t be torn up by these personal issues—everyone is entitled to let the ball drop and act like assholes once in a while. I’m not sure that he deserves the world listening in on his anguish or his infantile way of responding to it, though. This uncertainty, however, isn’t precluding me from adding to the netbuzz on the issue here.
One now wonders if, after all the buzz, he is in fact on his way to have it out with his young daughter. An industrious man would start immediately peddling “Save Addie” t-shirts.

I almost ran over Alec Baldwin one Sunday morning on my way to work out. Haha. I could have prevented all of this!
Um, is it not possible that this is a measured response for effect. I know my father would not have hesitated to speak to me like that, and when he did I usually deserved it. (I would guess about 87% of the time he had good reason; the rest of the time was for the things he figured I did but he didn’t know about.)
These people aren’t friends, you know; they’re family.
Shit I get yelled at like this TODAY at 26 if I dont answer the phone for my mom. I see nothing wrong with him calling her a spoiled brat if she WAS infact being a spoiled brat and not answering the phone for a reason.
As my dad used to say, “Im paying for that cellphone if I call you best well pick it up or its going up your ass”
I’m totally confused by this. I know he’s supposed to be an a-hole but honestly every time I talked to the man he was nothing but nice. His daughter goes to that fancy school I used to teach at so he was there all the time. Never saw him being rude to her or anyone else for that matter. Plus I never saw the mom, like ever. Kind of odd no?
As an aside, that kid is going to be beautiful or freakish, she’s quite a strange mix of the two.
