I always find non-PNW pales to be cloyingly sweet or trying too hard (Dogfish Head, I’m looking at you). I tried the Firestone pale last night and its very nice, easy, balanced… Not sure its in the same league as some of my favorites, but the fact that I can find this stuff in microbrew-starved L.A. makes me happy.

Anderson Valley makes some surprisingly good beer. Their IPA is damn tasty.

Everyone has their favorites, but any “top beers” list that excludes Anderson Valley’s Boont Amber is immediately suspect.

I haven’t had a lot of those but I have had the Firestone.

It’s as delicious as they say. Great news to see that it’s on top of the list.

That Hennepin is also delicious but it makes for the bad fartys.

Wow, I can’t believe there was nothing from Three Floyds on this list. Their Alpha King is quite seriously one of the best pale ales I’ve ever tasted.

Otherwise, good list! Sadly, I haven’t tried many of the more regional beers on it, but those I’ve had, I’ve enjoyed.

I have heard many good things about Russian River’s lineup as well. I am also pleased to see an entry from Avery on that list.
