• 8PM, Discovery Channel – Survivor Man: Sonoran Desert. Les Stroud’s first concern is finding water. He weaves a blanket from desert grass and snacks on scorpions and cactus fruit.
• 8PM, E! – True Hollywood Story: Chris Farley. A revealing biography of comic actor Chris Farley (1964-97) who died of a drug overdose at the age of 33.
• 8PM, FMC – Young Frankenstein (movie): Director Mel Brooks’ parody of horror films finds Dr. Fronk-en-steen following in his ancestor’s footsteps.
• 8PM, Speed – Barrett-Jackson Auto Auction: The annual classic-collector event in West Palm Beach FL.
• 8:30PM, DIY – DIY to the Rescue: English Pub Basement. A basement den that lacks style is given the feel of an English pub, project includes building an entertainment center and enclosing poles in wooden columns.
• 9PM, Discovery Channel – Survivor Man: Boreal Forest (autumn). Les faces a week in the boreal forest on northern Canada taking only a few cashews, some beef jerky, one match, a multitool, and 50 pounds of camera equipment.
• 9PM, History Channel – Dog Fights: The Zero Killer. World War II Pacific battles between Japanese Zero Fighters and the American Gruman F6F Hellcats are recalled.
• 10PM, PBS – Monty Python’s Flying Circus: Man’s Crisis of Identity in the Latter Half of the 20th Century. The Confuse-a-Cat service for lethargic felines. Interviews with a lizard, a duck, a cat, and a man in the street. An offbeat interview for a management training course.
• 10PM, DIY – Classic Rides: Sandblasting, Welding, and Leading. Restoring the gas tank on a 1948 motorcycle. Taking the tank apart, sandblasting it. Also welding and leading.
• 10PM, History Channel – Modern Marvels: Salt Mines. Salt mining and its history are covered. (I found the book ‘Salt’ very interesting, so I thought I’d add this in for anyone who liked it, too. If you haven’t read it, you really should. Salt)
• 10:30PM, DIY – Classic Rides: Metal and Paint Prep. Restoring the frame of a ‘48 motorcycle begins with redesigning the metal fenders and adding classic metal skirts.
• 11PM, SHOe – Debbie Does Dallas Again: Enjoy!
• 11PM, Starz – Dawn of the Dead (movie): 2004 remake of George Romero’s 1979 classic horror film set in a mall… with ZOMBIES!
• 12:30AM, Encore – Kung Fu Hustle (movie): Stephen Chow directed and stars in this deliriously daffy action flick, set in 1940’s China, about a wannabe gangster who tries to extort a town in order to impress an outlaw gang.
• 1AM, Discovery Health – Skeleton Stories: Drastic Measures. A woman discovers a decomposing body stuffed into a garbage can in her neighbor’s shed, a woman walking her dog in the woods stumbles onto a putrefying corpse.
