Pipolino Feeder: Making Cats Work for Their Supper
3 Comments Published by Joel March 30th, 2007 in Gadgets. Share ThisBook, our fat tuxedo cat, has been on a permanent diet for the last several months, as her post-spaying weight has been dangerously high. She’s out of immediate feline diabetes danger, but she could still stand to lose a couple of pounds, and the “Pipolino cat feeder and exerciser looks like it might do the trick.
After placing dry food inside, a cat will be forced to roll the Pipolino around to get to their food, giving them the motivation to get their fat ass off the couch to get the food they need. A few bits of kibble drop as the cats paw at the tube; most cats eat the bits as they fall out, preventing a floor full of cat food.
Problem for us: the Pipolino is only available in Europe for the moment. I have no intention of paying 30 euro plus an unknown amount of shipping for a plastic tube. Someone import some of these or make a knock-off soon or I will be forced to frighten the cats for days with the sound of a Dremel tool.

Why are there bird noises, even when the cats are inside?
We could totally make one of these with some PVC pipe, two caps, and the drill press. Presto chango! Unless the Pipolino is what is making those damn bird noises. I would imagine you wouldn’t want that part, anyways.
I might try to make one of these for Marcel.
Yea, why on earth does it need to make bird noises? It’s not like tiny birds are falling out of the holes (though that would be cool).
man. they should make a sturdier one for dogs. my dog isn’t in bad shape, but it sure would keep her busy. it’s amazing how much energy a viszla can have!
