I ended up with a pretty darn good washing machine about a year and half ago. Free. Heck, the place that had even had one of their guys bring it over in their van and he helped me move it into the apartment. I'm getting a new place next week and it is going back up on freecycle when I get there (new place has all new appliances.) I unloaded a hand me down couch when i moved last time also. You will have to wade through some folks who can't be bothered to read the rules or not beg for a new everything, but just set up a new free mail addy and you won't get bogged down by it. Freecycle works great.
