The guy is, to put it mildly, a real piece of work. Why he is listened to anymore falls into the same category of why do we listen to people who thought Iraq would be a cakewalk and Americans would be welcomed with flowers.
If the personal lives of our candidates continue to be open fodder for political opponents, the quality of our candidates will continue to decline as otherwise good people who have made bad choices in the past (drugs, affairs, etc) will shy from public office.
Hate on Gingrich all you want, but he’s a capable politician. And, at least when his scandal hit, he had enough respect for the political system to step down.
