Electric Artist: Nick London

I knew my friend Nick London was a talented artist—we used to live next door to each other and he’d show me his giant, cast bull heads and schools of metal fishes—but when he told me he was building chandeliers, I had no idea they’d be this gorgeous. I asked him to tell me what went into the building of this one:
My company, Suzan Etkin Enterprises worked with Elaine Griffin from Elle decor magazine. Elaine designed the room (furniture, flowers, concept). We did the design, glass, assembly and installation of the chandelier. It’s around 280 glass elements, mostly gold leaf in clear, white, smoke and mercury glass. It was for a charity event for DIFFA (Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS) called “Dining by Design.” We only had two weeks to put everything together. That included getting everyone involved to donate time and materials. Of course it was for a good cause and it all came together in the end.

Nick is such a pimp. We need one of these in our kitchen/livingroom.

I love to show your fantastic creations to my ‘clients’…they are always so impressed and love the glasswork. You are a master with glass!!
