Shaving Stuff reviews (in two parts) the contents of the “Urth Travel Kit,” a “TSA-Compliant” travel kit for men that includes Urth-brand face wash, scrub, shave formula, and face balm. All the Urth stuff is heavy on the tea tree oil, which is fine by me (but try to keep it away from young boys, at least until science discovers if it actually does cause enlarged breasts).
Next up is Urth Scrub, a rough green exfoliant with green tea and rice. Don’t be fooled by the fact that it sounds like dinner at a Chinese restaurant. This is a man’s exfoliant. Ingredient number two – walnut shell powder. A far cry from baby powder. And if that’s not enough there’s real wheat germ and ground up rice to remove dead skin and let that healthy layer shine through. Some exfoliants we’ve tried in the past have been a gel-like substance with the occasional fleck of grit. Urth Scrub is all grit. Expect to use this twice a week. No more.
The whole kit is $60, but SS’s recommended retailer, Details for Men, doesn’t seem to have it in stock. Of course, that may force you to do the frugal thing: Buy larger bottles of cheaper sludge and put them into cheap, small bottles of your own.
