Sometimes man needs to push himself to the limits, testing his mettle, see what he’s made of. It’s a call of the spirit, something primal in his nature. The cause remains a mystery but the effect takes limitless forms. From small tests such as eating fugu to jumping out of perfectly good airplanes to dating Courtney Love, there comes a time in a man’s life where he feels bound and determined to put himself in harm’s way to see if he can make it out intact. For this reason more than any other I feel confident in saying that men are inherently stupid by nature.
Understanding this peculiar quality of a man’s soul, Forbes has once again done the homework and compiled a list of the most dangerous travel destinations in the world. And because the world is increasingly dangerous, it seems, they have not been able to limit the list to the top ten, but instead have extended the list to include the unlucky count of the top thirteen most dangerous places on earth.

awww…i remember the first time my dad put me on the back of the truck and let me man the 50 cal. machine gun. (and yes, i know nothing about that shit).
i will say this- my girlfriend and i went to greece a couple summers ago and part of our itinerary was to travel to samothrace, (an island), which is a somewhat out of the way destination as far as greece goes- it’s very historical and there are lots of ruins to get lost in and whatnot.
well- we charter a plane to whatever was the closest port town to samothrace, (i can’t remember the name), to get the boat. well, the boat was broken. we came to find out this was not uncommon and we’re stuck in this port town which is right next to turkey.
we ended up walking around a bit more out of the way than intended and ended up in an area that was mostly cafes and bars that tended to turkish soldiers. i have never been so intimidated by sheer presence in my entire life. these guys were just stone cold badasses. my girlfriend in her mini-skirt didn’t help and i knew if i made eye contact with any of them i would have had to sell her off to a life of work in the opium fields.
i guess my point is- if you watch alot of tv and play alot of videogames and think you’re a badass- you’re not. after years in the simulator i thought i could react to any situation and i truly believe we barely made it out of there.
