Budvar is most definitely MUCH better than Budweiser, but it's still a pilsner... which in my book is a big negative.

Lou is right. When in Prague, I drank copious amounts of Czech beer because it's so plentiful and cheap. A half liter cost less than a dollar at a bar! At a grocery store, it was even cheaper.

Budvar is not worth $5... it's better than American pilsners, but not what I would cool great.

Czechvar is most certainly delicious. In fact, all of the Czech beers are amazing. I was an exchange student in Prague, and the beer is plentiful, cheap, and great. Also, it is one of those special countries where it is completely acceptable to have beer at lunch, even if lunch happens at 10am.

Other great Czech beers. Staropramen, Radegast, Krusovice, and Gambrinius. Most can be found in the states. But it isn't the same paying $5 for one, since it cost all of 75 cents in the Czech Republic (especially out in the country).
