The Case of the Missing “Super Bowl Shuffle”
3 Comments Published by Joel January 30th, 2007 in Sports, TV. Share ThisYesterday we linked a copy of the Bears’ infamous mid-season promotional song, the “Super Bowl Shuffle.” Just minutes after we embedded the copy from YouTube, it was pulled down, purportedly at the request of “Julia Meyer.” Who was Julia Meyer and why didn’t she want people to see the “Super Bowl Shuffle?”
Turns out Ms. Meyer inherited the rights to the song (and presumably the video) from her husband Dick Meyer and has been promoting her website SuperBowlShuffle.net, on which she sells DVDs, t-shirts, and posters.
I spoke briefly with Ms. Meyer yesterday to confirm that it was she that was removing the videos from YouTube. “Yes. Well, my lawyer.” I considered trying to explain to her that she might have a better chance selling her t-shirts and videos if she let the “Super Bowl Shuffle” promote itself during this week’s Super Bowl build-up, but she seemed like a nice lady and I was loathe to get into an argument about. (I’m a bad reporter!)
So that’s the scoop: No “Super Bowl Shuffle” this year unless you want to buy it yourself. A licensing deal was attempted a couple of years back but fell through, so it seems that if you want to listen or watch the “Super Bowl Shuffle,” you’re going to have to pony up $20 for a DVD.

Got it on tape from back in the day so screw her.
I can not believe a lady would stoop so low as to take something that was supposed to be for charity and now use it for her own benefit. It wasn’t her husband’s alone. He did have a cowriter and if you ask me it should be up to the Bears who appear in the video. How low can someone go and take from the children who need it so she can live a life of LUXARY on those childrens money that is due to them…it even says it in the lyrics of the song that it is for charity. Her own husband was MADE to pay the money to the charity and some of that came out of the players own pockets. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT HER AND HER HUSBAND HAD NO FEELINGS FOR THESE CHILDREN FROM THE BEGINNING ONLY WANTED TO FATTEN THEIR OWN POCKETS ON CHILDRENS EXPENCE. HOW SAD AND HOW UNAMERICAN
I totally agree. This video/song was performed to raise money for charity. Shame on Julia Meyer.
