Back in the golden age of Saturday morning cartoons—and that would be the early/mid ’70s—the Christmas toys were simpler, less fragile, and occasionally dangerous. One hugely popular toy line was the Super Jock action sets; they had a version for baseball, basketball, hockey, and of course, football.
The idea behind all of them was to pound on the little toy jock’s head, which would swing a bat, slap a puck, shoot a basket, or in the case of Super Toe, kick a field goal. As you can see from the list of memories from feelingretro.com, an unsurprising number of kids managed to destroy their houses with these things.
Take that, Wii!
I used to love my Super Toe! I don’t think I destroyed any houses or furnishings, but I’m pretty sure I beaned a couple cats.
I still have one of these, well, it’s at my dad’s house, and my nephews and neice absolutely LOVE it!
