Defense #1: I never snooped in 1977. Blasphemous rumors! Defense #2: This 30-year-old story has gotten so twisted as time passes. You know, sort of like how you skinned your little elbow hitting the curb while skateboarding, which turned into twisting your ankle while trying to hop across the little grass ditch off to the side of the road, which turned into "I broke my arm in two places while attempting to do this Evil Knievel jump over the neighborhood creek" First of all, it wasn't Mattel, it was Coleco, and it wasn't a football game, it was basketball..... Defense #3: Alex, how can you ruin my good name like this?? Everyone knows that I - the responsible 11-year-old - was babysitting you and our sister that night. At some point, I was upstairs changing our young, helpless sister's diapers - all the meanwhile, you - the notorious trouble maker - found my (future) football game, removed it from the box, and laughed up to Christmas Day, when finally guilt came over you after you opened this gift of Smurf figurines that I had bought for you from my own allowance. Defense #4: ...what football game?? I never got one of those games - though I wanted one so dearly! Lies! these are L-I-E-S!
