2006 Word Of The Year: “Plutoed”

The American Dialect Society, has voted “plutoed” over all other contenders for the word that has gained the most significant prominance in the past year.
Their official release defines the word thusly:
“To pluto is to demote or devalue someone or something, as happened to the former planet Pluto when the General Assembly of the International Astronomical Union decided Pluto no longer met its definition of a planet.”
Perhaps more honor was given to the former planet earlier last year by the smartaleky chaps over at ThinkGeek.com with their “Pluto replies” t-shirt.

I have not once heard anyone outside the media actually use this word. The American Dialect Society has lost my hard earned respect and should go pluto themselves.
