Mark Schatzker of slate.com did an interesting piece on what type of beef tastes better. I happened to order meat from the Alderspring Ranch featured in the article and must say that grass fed, dry aged beef it better than the prime steaks you get at most high end steakhouses. You might be able to get a better deal at omaha but not a better taste.

I’ve ben hungry all day….. SUDDENLY I decided to throw an omaha bacon wrapped filet on the BQ.
i just attempted to eat the omaha “bacon wrapped filet”. i’m a BBQ chef so I made it the right way. Hot grill…oak….high heat, garlic and salt…you know …the right way. lol. BUT…the flavor and texture of this meat is sooooo incredibly nauseting that I couldn’t eat it if I was starving to death. There is definately something wrong with this meat. This same thing happened to me years ago when I tried some of the same. You know…those guys who drive around in the trucks and sell omaha meat? Who knows, maybe its not omaha meat. the boxes say omaha on them. Maybe the boxes are from omaha nebraska BUT one thing is damn certain..this steak won’t even go to my dog (for fear of getting her sick) Thanks for ruining my night Omaha!!!!!!!!!!!!
