WIRED Science Premieres on PBS Tonight

WIRED is debuting their pilot science television program on PBS tonight, inventively named “WIRED Science.” (I help Wired.com manage their blog network, for the record, but am passing this on solely because I thought you guys might find it interesting. Also, now maybe they’ll let me be on the show.) I was sort of iffy on the whole proposition—do we really need another science show?—but my fears have been at least partially assuaged by WIRED Mag Senior Editor Adam Roger’s blogging over the WIRED Science blog; he seem legitimately excited to shake up science reporting at least a bit.
Of course, I haven’t seen the damn thing yet and it still follows a “pretty people talking” approach, so who knows? I encourage you to retain your skepticism and critical eye, but to also give it a look when it airs this evening at 8PM ET. Apparently PBS is airing three pilots, one of which will be picked up to premiere in the Fall, so whatever you think of it, let PBS know.

Three pilots, one of which will be picked up for a full season? How does that work?
Three different formats, hosts, what? How will they pick?
I wonder if this is a first?
I believe it’s three different pilots from three different production companies, not three WIRED Science pilots.
Ahhh… now I get it. I’m a little slow, Joel. Bear with me.
