An Alaskan woman made a fatal chug of what she thought was homebrewed beer: “The antifreeze was stored for unknown reasons in a soft drink bottle, according to trooper Teague Widmier. Emmonak is a dry community, meaning sales and possession of alcohol are banned.” Prohibition kills! [FoxNews/AP] (Thanks, Van!)
“for unknown reasons in a soft drink bottle”…
The reasons aren’t unknown – when you have to mix coolant 1:1 with antifreeze, you take an empty 2L soda bottle and pour half the 4L container into it. Then you add water to top up the 4L container, and use the coolant as required.
Anyone who’s spent any time around vehicles in cold weather knows this is standard operating procedure.
Sounds like they missed the next step, where you tear the soda label off and spend 45 minutes with a Sharpie marker writing out dire warning and drawing little skulls and dead cats on the bottle.
The final step could also have been a life-saver. That’s where you lose the bottle of coolant somewhere in the garage, and have to buy a whole new one the next time you need it.
