Planning Commission: Potential Themes
0 Comments Published by Joel December 20th, 2006 in Announcements. Share ThisSeveral of you have popped into the wiki to punch in potential themes—we have several dozen really strong topics, enough to take us well into next year. If you’d like to add you suggestions, it’s as easy as editing the page (the edit password is “hairclumps”). Feel free.
The next step would be to flesh out those potential themes with post ideas as well as guest bloggers. I think the theme weeks are going to work best if we can find a guest expert to post at least five posts throughout the week—one a day—and then we regular Dethroner staffers can blog around them with our own posts and the reoccurring rubrics.
What would be great is if you guys could help me find folks interested in guest blogging for a week in each of these subject areas. I believe that every man is an expert about something, even if they aren’t normally given to writing about it. While finding guest bloggers is ultimately my job, I want to point out that the opportunity is there for others to step in to guest blog each theme week.
If you know someone who would be a good guest blogger, feel free to approach them with the idea—again, I’m thinking a minimum of five posts, covering the range from the basics to the more ephemeral and snobbish—and then pass them on to me to discuss the details and scheduling if they are interested. It’s a good opportunity for those not normally able to pass on their wisdom to have a forum to present it and I’m only too happy to do what it takes to make that possible for them, from helping them write their posts to coming up with the topics that should be covered.
Guest blogging would be an unpaid opportunity (for now), but I’m happy to let any guest blogger link their companies (with all due disclaiming, etc.) or websites. That’s the least we can do and totally fine so long as everything is above board and public. (That said, we wouldn’t ever want to do something like, “General Electric’s Guide to Purchasing General Electric Products” or the like. I think you guys get the distinction.)
And of course, if the expert is you, then feel free to just shoot me an email with your idea!
