Dethroner Asks You: Final Coffee Tips and Suggestions
7 Comments Published by Joel December 18th, 2006 in Announcements, Coffee. Share ThisFirst, thanks again to Tonx for last week’s great introduction to the dark art of coffee. His posts will lay the groundwork for our first-ever “Dethroner Guide to…” which we hope to publish this week in PDF form. If you have any final tips, suggestions, or anecdotes about coffee that you would like to offer for inclusion in the guide, please post them right here.
I am currently working on a “State of the Blog” report that I’ll be putting up shortly which will serve as the icebreaker for what I hope to be an interesting end of year discussion, as well as the first post of a general “Year’s Best” theme. Expect that post within an hour.
How about a review on which of the chain stores has the best coffee and espresso?
I’m in Minnesota, and I like Dunn Bros. which is a midwest chain. The others (Caribou, Starbucks) aren’t so great.
Thanks Tonx! Excellent posts last week. Looked forward to them every day.
So I read the Denny’s and coffee post a couple minutes ago. But i’m betting the general consensus will be that you need the line in the Coffee guide somewhere:
“If beer is heaven, coffee is faith.”
Why not. ;)
The coffee roundup was great. As it happens, we buy green beans and roast ourselves, and find that there is not much info out there on blending techniques and roasting times for different beans. If you could incorporate some of that info in the .pdf download, great!
What a great site!
These were all great, but I was really looking forward to reading some advice on Moka pots. In any case, thanks for all the great suggestions!
I enjoyed doing it, though there is so much ground I wanted to cover and I feel like by Friday I was still catching up with what I’d planned to have in the hopper by Tuesday. Perhaps I can offer a sequel some week in the future when I’ve got my brain screwed on a bit tighter.
Tonx! Thanks for the great work.
I’d also like to hear about recommended chains. I’m in Columbus, OH and I haven’t been able to find a good local place since I moved from Yellow Springs, OH. (Although I read about one called Stauf’s this AM)
Also I’m looking to get into roasting my own and would like to see some info about that as well. Maybe a follow up week on roasting coffee…
